Those of you who know how (I don't) do a trace to see where the slow down is.
Last night it was extremely slow,but this AM it is fast for me! |

It was ok for me last night, but for about :30 this AM (between 8 & 9) I c/n get on the General Board at all.

Yesterday it was running slow and the gifs wouldn't load but today it seems to be ok.

Took forever to load at first, but now it's just screaming along.

I believe the site is under an attack from the morons at democratic underground in the form of a couple of those jerk offs openning four or five screens as guests and hitting a "refresh" attack.
If you keep hitting refresh X 5 people you can overload the server pretty quick or at least slow it down to a crawl. You you can see what forums they are doing it on by which ones won't load or load real slow. Look at these numbers, There are 182 Users and 2716 Guests browsing the boards. (2898 Total Users) |

I was having a VERY hard time this morning.
I went to jobrelatedstuff.com and its working fine. I have no idea why, but thats running faster for me than AR15.com |

I couldnt get on at all until almost 9:30.
Visitor number is still strangely high. There are 204 Users and 2738 Guests browsing the boards. (2942 Total Users) |

Does ar15.com use a commercial web hosting company, or is it a bunch of boxes in GB's basement? If the former, I'd be hunting around for somebody else, they don't seem to be doing too good of a job.

Many of those "guests" on the site are web crawlers and spiders that are automated and index the contents for places like Google. At any given time, roughly 40% of the "visitors" on my web sites are spiders (inktomi) and web crawlers. If it's causing a problem for bandwidth, GB needs to edit the headers to disallow them (easy to do).

Got on about 7:30,was ok. Around 8:30-9 would not load. Got back about 11, is running ok.
