My Great Uncle of 90 years old died on the 19th... he was one of 11 siblings with only 3 surviving, one being my grandfather, the youngest of all of them.

He was a Merchant Marine before and through WWII.

According to www.cem.va.gov he is eligable, as a WWII Merchant Mariner, for burial in a VA national cemetary, a burial flag, and a headstone/marker.

Now, what i cant find, even on www.militaryfuneralhonors.osd.mil, is if he is eligable for Military honors.  Are they applicable to Merchant Mariners?

Any info would be greatly appriciated!

Im not asking for a research project, just if anyone has any info off the top of their head..seing that arfcom is home to some serious distributed brain power and memory.

I wish i knew my great uncle better.. he lived a very full life.. if this is the uncle im thinking of, there are some GREAT stories.
