I used to use CLP on my Walther P99 in .40 and USP .45. No problems with the stuff

I use CLP for everything. If I have some grunge in the bore I can't get out, I will use some bore solvent.

Militec-1 for most applications, but I use simple Hoppe's when hunting 'cuz it doesn't smell as strong.  Just try to keep the militec off of your skin.  It doesn't hurt, but the smell sticks.

By the way, I added Militec to both of my vehicles at their last oil change.  Both now get better mileage and the Trooper is running like a top. (191K+)

CLP, and Nothing but CLP...

And for cleaning my firearms, CLP...and nothing but CLP.

Beretta, PPK, AK, AR:  CLP

Savage 10FP: Hoppe's gun oil...
(Even the Army says 'no CLP for precision rifles', IIRC... So I used hoppes 'cause it's all I had besides CLP. I'll probably use Milpro-7 for that one in the future, though...)

Cleaning: Depends... Primarily CLP, but also electonic component cooler (the stuff that comes out when you spray canned air upside down) or 'Powder Blast'. I have a bottle of shooters choice copper remover that I use every so often, too...

3 In 1 might not be gun oil but it worked on my BB gun 45 years ago and it worked on my AR yesterday. I think I'll stick with it.

My problem with it is it is a cheap oil, and will gum up in the side plates and other hard to reach areas or firearms. A good gun oil Hoppes will not gum up.

I think that the main problem with CLP is people use waaay to much.  I remember in basic training my drill sergeant to my horrific suprise squirted about 1/2 pint in my M16.  However I made it a rule that less is more, and only put a wet finger on the bearing surfaces on the bolt, that's all it needs.

In the early 90's I used a dry lube called "Sandoro Gun-coat" and it worked like a charm, spray it on, wait for it to dry and it formed a hard waxy finish that would stay on the metal for quite some time.

All wet lubes suck.
All oils degrade and loose viscosity in extreme heat.
Graphite dont give a damn how hot that weapon gets and doesnt trap every dust particle it comes in contact with.
3 in 1 oil ? are you nuts? Sure if you are oiling you weapon for storage but for lubrication motor oil is better than that.

But it is known to react galvanically with aluminum, causing corrosion

I can't remember.  Who makes CLP for the military right now?  It's different than the Break-Free brand.

Remember that free sample of Militec-1 you could get last year? The little bottle? I'm using that. When it runs out, I'll buy some.
A little goes a long way.

It's crap, I took the free sample bottle of Miltec-1 with me to Iraq. I also took a butt load of other "dry" and less wet lubes too (TW-25B, FP10, Teflon, graphite, etc), none really worked any better than the others in that enviroment.

I spoke with a troop who was in Iraq about CLP causing problems, and he told me that most of the problems were caused by soldiers not keeping their weapons clean, ie. to lazy to KEEP them clean. FWIW

TW-25B has worked flawless for me. didn't attract the sand/dust like some of the others. and it works when it cold real cold.

For the ar15  CLP
For the AK's  whatever petrolium based liquid is near.
For everything else   REM-OIL

Thank God!  I was beginning to think I was the only one who ever used Rem-Oil!

I am certainly no newbie (so I KNOW I'm gonna regret asking this question ), but why is Rem-Oil inappropriate for my ARs/AKs when I use it on all my other firearms?...

CLP for everything except the old shotguns, there I use Rem oil. Shooter's Choice or Sweet's 7.62 for a cleaner.

I'm getting to love TW25B.  I'm thinking I might try the Militec in the engine routine - cause I bet it's real good for that.  Plus I have a bottle that I don't want to waste on making my guns rusty.

PEANUT OIL! No shit.
I'm showing my age now, but back in the day of C-rations, the little tin cans of peanut butter would always have the oil seperate from the peanut butter.

We were on a FTX and my M-16 had run dry and was failing to feed. Well, I was fresh out of CLP, but I did have some peanut butter in the old butt pack. I cracked open that tin and drizzled the oil on the carrier and bolt. I was good to go until I got some real lube.

IIRC, I fired abut 60 rounds with the Skippy lube without a malfunction.

FP-10! Because it smells better than CLP. Works good too.
