Hey everyone,

Since we're all a bunch of firearms aficionados, I was wondering if anyone had interest other than shooting/collecting firearms. If so, state your hobby, and what you enjoy about it!

I myself play guitar, mostly rock, etc. It's more or less a way to express myself aswell as enjoy myself.

Other than that, I collect action figures to make up for having a whacky childhood and not having alot of toys and what not to entertain myself with, so I guess I do it now to make up. Plus, it keeps me busy, thus I enjoy it very much.

I like to cook.  Mostly southern Italian stuff, but I can cook just about anything.  It gives me away to get in good with the women I work with. The quickest way to a woman's heart, is to cut open her chest and rip it out.

- Studying Christian theology.  Not a hobby per se, but an activity that takes up a decent chunk of my time.

- I thrash my guitar and diddle with an electric bass.  I wouldn't dare call myself a musician, but I have fun!

- Shooting.  Did I mention that?

- My motorcycle.  It helps keep me young.  Between transportation, recreational riding, and teaching MSF courses I spend a fair amount of time in the saddle.

Let's see, getting in trouble with the wife every time I mention starting a new hobby seems to be particularly popular these days.  Seriously, I used to collect Nascar diecast (had over 1000 pieces, down to 200 or so now), I collect comics and magazines from March 1968.  I like riding my Harley and driving my Mach 1.  There are presently 7 computers here.  Etc., etc., etc.  There is not enough time in a day.

Shopping I like to look at catalogs & on web sites for knives, gun junk, camping gear, military surplus, cigars, ammo, optics, & everything I'm interested in. I don't buy much as money is low, but I usualy find exactly what I want before I buy anything. Then I waite a long time to see if I still want it, so I don't compulsivly purchase unwanted junk on a whim.
If I buy it has to be an item I can't get off my mind. That's how I know I really want it enough to pay for it. If in a few months I still have it on my mental to get asap list.

Besides guns and shooting I enjoy SCUBA and Off Roading.

I've been a certified diver since 1981 with 17 of those years as an Insructor. Thanks to the wonderful travel opportunities provided by the US Army, aka deployments, I've been able to dive some of the more exotic locations in the world.

For off roading I have a '79 Jeep CJ-7, a Kawasaki ATV, and a Kawasaki KLR-650 Dual Sport. I'm also lucky enough to live about 40 miles from the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area, and about 5 miles from Ft Campbell with thousands of acres of rear training areas.

I'm a self taught week-end guitar hacker myself.  I guess I consider wood lot management a hobby as I enjoy going out and clearing brush and cutting firewood on my 10 acres.

I also get into wood and metal working and love power tools and gadgets as much as guns. I also enjoy restoring military firearms to their previous glory.  I've built and refinished four FALs, one M-1A, about a dozen Springfields and Garands, and a few M-1 carbines.  I'm thinking about getting into building some AR-15 uppers, not so much because I need them ( I only have two lowers) but because it looks like a lot of fun.

A hobby I hope to get into soon (when I win the lottery) is restoring a few old military vehicles.  I'd like my first project to be something fairly easy like an M-1008 diesel 3/4-ton truck and then do a M35 series duece since I was "crew chief" of one as a young airman in the AF.

I took a fly fishing course this term.
Now I'm into tying flies. It isn't cheap either.

I also mess about with a tin whistle. Until my dog chewed it up last time I was home, so now I have to buy another one. Lucky for me I'm only out six bucks.

I build guitars on a semi-professional basis.  Several pics are in my gallery, titled "cmjohnson's picture place".  Click on the photos button above and go find it.

I do other sorts of woodworking beside building guitars, too, but the rest is mostly speaker cabinets of one type or another.  I don't do furniture.

I also mess about with many families of electronics, with an emphasis on video projection systems, and I specialize in their proper alignment and calibration.

I used to be an aspiring semi-professional bass fisherman...

I still like to bass fish, but I no longer own a boat and don't go as often as I once did.

I make my own(and sell a few on the side) bass jigs and spinnerbaits. I have a lead pot and molds. I hand-tie the skirts on them. It's relaxing to mess with that stuff once in a while.

If you're interested in some of my lures, let me know. I have literally hundreds made up that I'll never get around to using...

i love to build and fly remote control aircraft.it's very satisfying to take a box o' pieces and get it into the air.
a good kit will keep you occupied for a good 80 - 120 building hours before you get it airborne, more if it's more involved. i had a p-40 that had funtioning pnuematic retractable landing gear that rotated 90deg as it went up, funtioning flaps, lots of stuff to be had.
the only downside is if you fly too close to the edge of your abilities and "lose it". every death spiral into the ground is good for $400 or so.
i love it anyway.
