No way, I had one years ago and the sucker rattled so much I couldn't stand the noise. It was jam free but who knows where the bullet went half the time. Sold it off and bought a NIB Sig P220 WG. Still have it and it shoots like a champ. No good reason to go back to 1911.

If they get 100,000 packets for the total of 90,000 pistols they will get over the next 10 years there may not be another packet submission window.  Once the 8,000 they have now are sold the lottery sequence just picks back up when they get more.

As noted earlier if you send in a packet now you get put in the drawing for the entire 100K release not just this year.  Supposedly, CMP said they will cut off the applications once they have enough for all of them.  So, you odds are good you will get one, eventually.

I love these CMP threads, you find out quick that many Arfcommers have no clue about the current US military firearms market. The $1,050 service grades could be flipped for a $500 or more profit upon receipt, if one were so inclined. If I luck up and get one, I will be keeping it, but I suspect a fair number will show up on Gunbroker.

Nope.
I get hammer bite from the issue guns so I would never shoot it, besides I have a Dan Wesson so the old one would just sit there.
It would be a waste besides the price is kinda out there for a "luck of the draw" sight unseen purchase.

OK, lets take a look at that one from the "sneak peek".

Note the Augusta Armory (AA) rebuild stamp....Likely refurbed post WW-II.

Now note the Anniston (AN) rebuild marking.....Rebuilt in '78.

That particular gun will be sold as a service grade for $1050.00....A 1911A1 that has been armory rebuilt twice.

I have a post war AA rebuild. I paid $650.00 for it this past June.

This. Way way way over priced for guns that are likely beat to shit. They're parts guns that people are drooling over because OMG WARLD WOR TOOOOO!!! I have hundreds of WW2 General Motors and Kelsey-Hayes 50 cals sitting in my armory right now getting ready to be issued, and no one gives a fuck about them. Why? Because they're giant piles of monkey fuck that break constantly and regularly go back to Anniston for overhaul or melt down.

With that said, best of luck to those hoping for a Singer.

Oh, come now. I had a Kelsey Hayes back in '04 in Iraq and that bitch ran like a top. (Yes I know they are running out of receiver life.)Had brand fucking new ones in Afghanistan in '09 and they were awesome as well. Last year I get a new quick change barrel version that they are all being converted to and it runs like a cracked out trailer trash whore. Can't hiccup its way through twenty rounds. I hope you both realize that a post war rebuild is the lowest of the low as far as .mil M1911/M1911A1 collecting goes. They are usually bought by collectors just to fill that rebuild hole in their collections.

Flip that twice rebuilt Service grade for a $500 profit after you get it you say....Nah, I'm just not seeing it. Someone that does not get selected to receive one from the CMP might be willing to pay a bit of a premium but sure as hell not $500.

That said in time you won't lose money on any grade you buy but "the clowns" are the ones that think they are going to flip them for a huge profit right away.

I saw a large volume of them when I did a short stint in the USMC armory.  They were sad then.  30+ years later, I don't think they improved.

If there are any unicorns, I expect the CMP dudes will auction them off.

I will take my money to Vegas and bet on black.

Thought about it for a while, but then I found a nice deal on a 1943 Colt M1911A1, and forgot all about going through so much bureaucratic hassle to get a pistol that’s half as nice as mine.

Meh, I sent in an application. Step dad wants one badly and he’s been good to me.

Gives him another shot at the lotto. I have no desire for one, but if I get one I’ll transfer (FFL) to him as a gift.

He’s too afraid of getting fleeced on a gunbroker auction one and neither of us know what to look for.

Doesn’t give a shit about looks, he is just hoping for a WW2 era gun for sentimental reasons (family in the war), previous heirloom disappeared down the family member jacked it from the estate story.

And?   Anyone who is trying to get one of these without knowing what they are buying is silly. I have other USGI 1911's; modern builds (RIA etc.), and make my own on my Ghost Gunner II. I will gladly pay a measly grand for one exactly like that in the picture. I want an arsenal rebuilt 1911, hopefully in the original storage box, with the periodic inspection card annotated.

Should I be lucky, and get one, it will never be fired or sold, but it is what I want.  I also have arsenal rebuilt Garands (LEMC), and Arsenal rebuilt Carbines.

I guess there are other folks like me around as the entire inventory of 1911's will probably sell out this month.

i have decided to pass on this one, a combination of not wanting to fuck with the extra bullshit and not wanting to pay that much

if i had to do a bunch of extra horsefuckery for a $700 pistol, that'd be worth it.  if i had to pay $1050 for a pistol that was as "easy" to get as a garand, i'd do that.

a combination of both though and i'll suffer through purchasing one through a private party sometime down the road
