No way, I had one years ago and the sucker rattled so much I couldn't stand the noise. It was jam free but who knows where the bullet went half the time. Sold it off and bought a NIB Sig P220 WG. Still have it and it shoots like a champ. No good reason to go back to 1911.

Been mulling over the idea, but I don't know if I really need it $1050 bad...

No it won't. CMP is infamous for claiming that their current supply is the last of em. Probably for as long as I've been a member on this site. "This is it, this is your last chance!" View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes |

I will be sending in my packet in a day or so, just waiting to get it notarized. I love these CMP threads, you find out quick that many Arfcommers have no clue about the current US military firearms market. The $1,050 service grades could be flipped for a $500 or more profit upon receipt, if one were so inclined. If I luck up and get one, I will be keeping it, but I suspect a fair number will show up on Gunbroker. View Quote |

I've got some shooters and collector 1911s.
I'll pass at these prices. |
|
Was considering it, but was then unexpectedly bequeathed my grandfather's 1911. He was a bomber navigator during the war, and many years thereafter.
Attached File Other than some holster wear near the muzzle, and a typical scratch by the slide stop, it is in nearly new condition. Slide is tight! Just thought I'd share... |

Nope.
I get hammer bite from the issue guns so I would never shoot it, besides I have a Dan Wesson so the old one would just sit there. It would be a waste besides the price is kinda out there for a "luck of the draw" sight unseen purchase. |

Fuck no! I'm not paying that much for a loose rattly shit box 1911 that's worth $250 lol. That's real retarded sir.

Quoted: This. Way way way over priced for guns that are likely beat to shit. They're parts guns that people are drooling over because OMG WARLD WOR TOOOOO!!! I have hundreds of WW2 General Motors and Kelsey-Hayes 50 cals sitting in my armory right now getting ready to be issued, and no one gives a fuck about them. Why? Because they're giant piles of monkey fuck that break constantly and regularly go back to Anniston for overhaul or melt down. With that said, best of luck to those hoping for a Singer. View Quote |

Yes. I sent my 1911 order packet in yesterday. I have also enjoyed watching (reading) the threads on CMP forum about the 1911 release and all of the lunacy that it has brought out - quite entertaining.

Flip that twice rebuilt Service grade for a $500 profit after you get it you say....Nah, I'm just not seeing it. Someone that does not get selected to receive one from the CMP might be willing to pay a bit of a premium but sure as hell not $500. That said in time you won't lose money on any grade you buy but "the clowns" are the ones that think they are going to flip them for a huge profit right away. |

I saw a large volume of them when I did a short stint in the USMC armory. They were sad then. 30+ years later, I don't think they improved.
If there are any unicorns, I expect the CMP dudes will auction them off. I will take my money to Vegas and bet on black. |

Meh, I sent in an application. Step dad wants one badly and he’s been good to me.
Gives him another shot at the lotto. I have no desire for one, but if I get one I’ll transfer (FFL) to him as a gift. He’s too afraid of getting fleeced on a gunbroker auction one and neither of us know what to look for. Doesn’t give a shit about looks, he is just hoping for a WW2 era gun for sentimental reasons (family in the war), previous heirloom disappeared down the family member jacked it from the estate story. |

Wife and I have our packets filled out, will hit the notary this weekend then into the mail. May as well get in line. Half the fun of the CMP is not knowing what you are going to get....gambled away more $$$ than this in Vegas and YOLO...

Pass at that price. Already have a 69 Colt 1911 in pristine condition with the box, plus I spent all my gun funds on NFA items this year

I'm about to send my packet in tomorrow. I'm confused about page 3A though. How can I fill out the Item, Description, price, etc. if I don't know what grade I'm going to get?

I will be, but will give up my spot if picked and a Service Grade is not available.
I'm ok with the prices they're being sold for knowing they could have charged more and the money will benefit youth programs. |

i have decided to pass on this one, a combination of not wanting to fuck with the extra bullshit and not wanting to pay that much
if i had to do a bunch of extra horsefuckery for a $700 pistol, that'd be worth it. if i had to pay $1050 for a pistol that was as "easy" to get as a garand, i'd do that. a combination of both though and i'll suffer through purchasing one through a private party sometime down the road |
