I used one in a rental I was in to look at some known places the cats puked of peed.
Those spots still showed up. ... Then, I noticed something else... A trail of little dots.. That ran from my side off the bed to the bathroom... I sleep in a T shirt but no drawers. Apparently, after three years of getting up to pee in the middle of the night, I left a trail because I didn't fully shake it when it was done.

UV lights are great for making sure you don't step on, or worse, sit on one of these MFers on the way to the loo, as they fluoresce under UV:
