Delays and setbacks are expected.   They fly when they are ready.   The end of flying on Russian spacecraft is not a driver and I suspect can be extended.

The Russians like money.  They also like saying (quoting from Moisevitch in 2010) "A Russian craft, flown by Russians, carrying a few poor Americans, who need our help. That also doesn't look too bad on the front page of Pravda."

Love that this is happening. It’s ridiculous the US didn’t have manned space flight for so long. I’m ok with .giv dollars spent on all this.

Why is there only one unscrewed test of the Dragon capsule? Is the crew-capable module just a version with seats of the version that has been bringing cargo back from the ISS?

Also, why doesn’t SpaceX have their own astronauts. I understand the crew contract is for NASA. Will SpaceX start flying their own people into orbit at some point?

I’m surprised Trump hasn’t started building a Trump property in orbit yet.

SpaceX's capsule is at the Cape Now and ready to launch.  The problem isn't SpaceX.  It is NASA's schedule of other dockings and crew rotation at ISS.

DM-1 first and second stage are at McGregor for testing

Confirmed earlier this year in a quarterly NASA Commercial Crew update, SpaceX assigned Falcon 9 Booster 1051 to Crew Dragon's debut launch. That rocket booster and its complementary upper stage are already at SpaceX's McGregor, TX rocket testing facility undergoing a number of acceptance tests and checkouts as of today, confirming a number of critical facts. Most importantly, the presence of integrated the B1051 booster in Texas appears to imply that SpaceX has successfully fixed slight design flaws in their Merlin 1D engines and composite-overwrapped pressure vessels (COPVs), even if the paperwork to officially 'certify' them for flight has not been completed.

It was built as a prototype crew Dragon including windows and the same floor rails for cargo or seats.  Actual reentry scars smudged my gloves.

Article on the crew walkway.

"The access arm astronauts will transit when boarding SpaceX’s Crew Dragon commercial capsule has arrived at launch pad 39A at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Photos of the access arm shared on social media show it arrived at pad 39A earlier this week. SpaceX will raise it to an attach point on the launch pad’s fixed service structure at the correct height to give astronauts and ground crews access to the Crew Dragon spacecraft sitting atop a Falcon 9 rocket.

At the end of the arm, a white room will connect to the hatch entry way of the Crew Dragon spaceship, allowing astronauts to crawl aboard a few hours before liftoff on missions to the International Space Station."

NASA, SpaceX Agree on Plans for Crew Launch Day Operations

If all goes according to plan, on launch day, the Falcon 9 composite overwrap pressure vessels, known as COPVs, will be loaded with helium and verified to be in a stable configuration prior to astronaut arrival at the launch pad. The astronauts then will board the spacecraft about two hours before launch, when the launch system is in a quiescent state. After the ground crews depart the launch pad, the launch escape systems will be activated approximately 38 minutes before liftoff, just before fueling begins. SpaceX launch controllers then will begin loading rocket grade kerosene and densified liquid oxygen approximately 35 minutes before launch. The countdown and launch preparations can be stopped automatically up to the last moment before launch. In the unlikely event of an emergency at any point up to and after launch, the launch escape systems will allow the astronauts to evacuate safely.

What are the odds we'll get a live crew compartment camera during launch or do you think they will show it after launch in case something goes wrong it won't be seen live?

I'm excited we're about to launch Americans back into space. I miss the Shuttle though. I used to like watch satellite repair missions.
I remember watching them work on Hubble. Good stuff.

In 8-10 years we will have ships that can bring 100+ people into space at once. The shuttle will be nothing more than a distant memory.

Currently not scheduled but assumed to be in between the September DM1 uncrewed flight and the January DM2 first crewed flight.  I assume those dates be will slip as well.

Any bets on whether SpaceX or Boeing launches Crew first?
Supposedly the bottleneck for both now is NASA certification paperwork.
Can you just cheat that and buy a few truckloads of paper, maybe have 500,000 copies of the prestart checklist made?

Incorrect:

Every U.S. astronaut since the crew of Gemini 4 has worn the flag on the left shoulder of his or her space suit, with the exception of the crew of Apollo 1, whose flags were worn on the right shoulder. In this case, the canton was on the left.

Cut and paste of a cut and paste (can’t currently access the .mil site for some reason):

The FAQ on the Army Institute of Heraldry website says the following about this issue:
The US Flag Code does not address the positioning of the flag patch. It is appropriate to wear an American flag patch on the left or right sleeve. When worn on the left sleeve, the union would appear towards the front and the stripes would run horizontally toward the back. When worn on the right sleeve, it is considered proper to reverse the design so that the union is at the observer’s right to suggest that the flag is flying in the breeze as the wearer moves forward."

"Since the law does not specifically address the positioning of the patch, a decision is left to the discretion of the organization prescribing the wear. As many states and cities have ordinances pertaining to the use of the flag, you may wish to contact the Attorney General of your state or the City Attorney’s office regarding this matter."
