The Bear is a great movie about the Russian/Afganistan war. It has Steven Baldwin and Jason Patric. I know they are cheesey but the movie is a must see.

Did you know that they are going to re-release it with an additional HOUR of footage? I hear it's going to include more depth in to M.Sheen's and M.Brando's characters.

Sounds like a winner to me!

If you guys find the movie, The Winter War. It has been on sale in Small Arms Review. It tells about our nations battle against the Russkies in 1939. Great war movie, shows the courage eve nunder overwhelming odds.

The last movie i went to see here a few months back was Proof Of Life, of course it had the love thing and the waiting included in hostage situations but in the end, when it is time to rock n roll they fire it up nicely, M4A1s, Minimi, AKs.

PS. Eagerly waiting for the upcoming Blackhawk Down movie, if they accomplish at least a fraction of the drama of Oct.3 1993 it will BE ONE HELL OF A MOVIE, reports state the violence of the battle has been shot to camera realisticly, at least before editing

fightforyourrights, you mentioned the movie "Patriot" with Steven Seagal.I saw that on DVD at BlockBuster,it's apparently about a militia which attacks a town or something. Was it really good? I never heard of it until I saw it in the store.
Also, like I said guys,PLEASE rent or buy "ROGUE FORCE" it's got awesome tactical firefights.

The steven segal version of "The Patriot" was utter crap, which explains why it went straight to video.  It was just one in a very short lived line of movies that used militias as the new enemies of the sheeple, replacing the middle eastern terrorist.

Another pile of steaming turd is the dean cain movie "Militia" that was recently shown on HBO.

"Freeway" with Reese Witherspoon.

"Opposite of Sex" with Christina Ricci.

"Searching for Bobby Fisher."

If in cubicle-land/IT, "Office Space" is a must-own.

"Tank Girl" was cool.

Based on account of famed Russian sniper Vassily Zaitsev and the battle for Stalingrad.

Lots of little things to watch for in this one.

Blockbuster should finally have it, wasn't available for a very long time, even at $125 each!  Butt-kickin' Afghan war movie, and an excellent primer to Anti-Tank 101.  Tops on my list: The Patriot, (Mel Gibson)  Saving Private Ryan, Red Dawn, Ronin.

I surfed to the American Movie Channel and saw the last 1/2 hr. of a Jimmy Stewart movie called "Carbine Williams".  The story of the man who invented the M1 Carbine.
He was in prison and used a fence post and an axle as the parts; then with his own two hands and a file, over the next two years made a working carbine.  After the warden sided with him and he got a chance to test it in the prison, he was pardoned and Winchester contracted him to design guns.  The M1 Carbine was the result, with over 8,000,000 being produced.
I'd like to see the whole movie someday.

"The Ninth Configuration" with Stacy Keach

It's a film by William Blatty (Exorcist) that is philosophical (existence of God etc.) with a kick-ass bar fight you will not forget.  Also a good read for those so inclined. Book in it's earliest form was called "Twinkle, Twinkle, Killer Kane" and was re-written and re-titled because he thought he could improve it.

I like the Matrix.

I was watching it with my friend and his girlfriend.  She said that the Matrix was based on the Bible and I asked her what book was  Jesus shooting up the lobby of the agents building in?  And how come Jesus needed an MP5 to do it.  The joke didn't go over well.

My vote goes to the John Wayne flicks, then "Cross of Iron", Then "Roughriders."  Another good on if you can find it is "The Lighthorsemen", Australian light mounted Infantry in Palestine in WW1.
