I just read a post on the "Legal Section" about a guy living in California who failed to realise the AW registration was in effect, called the authorities who then instructed him to TURN IN HIS RIFLE!!
Until now all of this b.s. going on in CA seemed very distant to me. But reading a post, thinking that very well could have been me authoring it, really woke me up. What the hell happened in California that let this get so far out of hand? Did gun owners not vote? Where there no pro-gun candidates? Does anyone know when this started? Also, for everyone that is giving the advice to move out of California, why? What is to say that it will stop there? Is Arizona next? Maybe Nevada? When do we stop telling people to move? [pissed] |

Think about this: Gore won the PRK vote by 1.2 million votes. See the problem now?
BTW, I'm planning to leave next year. Let them live in the hell they've created. -Troy |
|
I understand your leaving that f**cking place. And it sucks that honest people like yourselves have to leave your homes. And as long as we don't let this go any farther, then like you say "Let them live in the hell they've created"
But what if this is the first battle of the war and by moving out, we have already fallen back? |
|
Hell, then fallback and regroup for the counter offensive.[;D]

Alright damnit. I'm sick and tired of all the move out of California posts. Yes, I know that there are a boat load of screwed up gun laws. I know there are a truck load of liberal scum creeping around here. But you know what? I don't think I would want to live anywhere else.
I base my opinion on what I have seen in other states. To me there is NO other place as wonderful as Southern California, specifically the Orange County area. EVERYTHING (with the exception of the guns I want) you could want is here. Beautiful beaches, mountains, desert, clean cities. Personally I love living in yuppiville, Its clean and the people are snobs and elitists, like me.[;D] Sure there are some bad parts, but I just went to Vegas, and not 5 min off the strip I thought I was in Sh*tsville USA. You talk about poor trash, wow! Once you become accustomed to life here in Southern CA and really see what other areas have to offer, its not a hard decision to stay. The only idea I'm entertaining is moving out of state just long enough to acquire all the gun goodies I can't have here. Store them in NV, and one day if the laws are repealed or CA get invaded by China, go and get them. |
|
Ice15,
I live in the bay area and I agree with you 100%. This place is damn near perfect (except for the traffic). I don't want to give it up. May have to though, to get the stuff I want. |

In the words of Andrew Dice Clay:
"First thing you know ol Jed's a millionaire Kin folk said "Jed move away from there" "Californy is the place you ought to be" So he loaded up the truck and he moved to Beverly.. Hills that is,,, swimming pools,, movie stars,, Dykes,, faggots,, drug dealers,,," Believe me dude, there are plenty of clean snobby places with beaches in this country that still hold on to a little sensibility. If you plan to stay in Kali, may I suggest you buy lots of candles and canned foods... Wouldn't want to lose all your food when the power goes out - and it WILL go out. I'm waiting for the first blackout in LA in the heat of summer. Should make for some interesting news coverage..... |

No, ChaZ, we all love to hear bad, I mean really bad, news about California.
It really perks us up, gives us hope, and the will to carry on with our meaningless, sunbaked-beach-less lives.[:D] But will the last native-born American remember to bring the Flag with him on the way out? Eric The Hun |

Many companies today have backup power generators. During the 94 quake, using a battery TV I watched the news.
The socialist democRats want gun owners and other political undesirables to leave "Utopia" |

I lived in the PRK for a many years having moved there when I was 18. Now at 30 I am finally living in America again. I used to think the PRK was a great place to live. It is a beautiful state, but not somewhere I would ever want to live again. Taxes are high, the air is dirty the people are sheep and the politicians are all opportunists. To all you good guys still living in the PRK, please take my advice...MOVE! It is such a great feeling walking into a gun shop in a free state and seeing the beautiful AR's and AK's on the shelf. Get out of that place and leave it to the Libs and all of their social engineering that is doomed for failure. They can't even keep the lights on for christ sake!

raven,
Yeah, it's a gilded cage. But the door is open. I could leave. But I've got a job that I will not leave. And a family that I dearly love. And, yes, I like it here. Probably because I don't know any better. We need to change things in CA. I will keep trying, in my own feeble way, to change things around here. You may get tired of hearing me bitch about new laws and restrictions, but it gives everyone here a picture of things to come. And I'm sure we provide some entertainment to the rest of the free world. I am getting tired of hearing how we CA gunowners will take a hot poker up the butt in exchange for good weather and excellent pay. You all don't seem to realize that you will be next if we don't nip this in the bud. We could use your moral support. Give us a hand here. |

My wife and I both have advanced degrees and some employers in California are seeking out my wife who has a couple of graduate degrees and is also a racial minority. I have vetoed any move to California--Maryland is bad enough. Pretty ironic that the lieftist PC-Nazis in California cannot attract the sort of worker they want because of their socialist government.

Kali can sink into the ocean for all i care- been there 3 times, did not 'like' it once...
LA=crowded, traffic, hot, gangs, freaks galore San Francisco=traffic, tourists, rainy Bakersfield=foggy, migrant workers, flat blah... |

Except for the gun laws, high taxes, the price of gasoline and electricity, the black outs, the earthquakes, the riots, gangs, air polution, nasty tasting water, high rents, traffic, the crime, the freaks ... the rest sucks!

Ah yes... not enough of the "good people" in California so what is the answer to you morons?
"Move the good ones out!!!" Yeah great idea!!! One thing CA needs less of is gun owners! Yeah and everywhere else is free huh? Say tell me... how many 30 round magazines that were made within the last 6 years have you purchased? Oh but you can't? Oh... But I thought only in CA... You cowards can run from the fight, but I'm sick of running, I'm standing my ground. |

During the spy plane incident with China, Did I hear that China's nuclear missiles had enough range to reach Los Angeles?

All right, you're looking for excuses, let's see if mine is good enough. I moved here in the spring of 1991, after Eastern Airlines went bankrupt. We were in the middle of a recession, mired in the gulf war, and virtually nobody was hiring. This job just sorta fell into my lap and they paid all my relocation expenses. It was either take this job or go on welfare.
Back then the balance of power in Sacramento was pretty much split between Republicans and Democrats and we had a Republican governor who vetoed some major gun bills. A few years ago Gray "Red" Davis became governor and the Democrats got a supermajority and things went to hell pretty fast. As of April 15, I got my 10 year vesting in, so I'm looking at moving out soon, sometime after my better half finishes school. But I also have a daughter in high school, and I share joint custody with my ex-wife so that's something I have to consider. I think it's important for me to be involved in her life right now. I'd like to be here to see her off to college, hopefully somewhere out of California. I've done what I can to help the RKBA effort in California. I've phoned, mailed, and faxed and I will continue to do so as long as I live here. Let me ask you this... Where were you in 1993 and 1994 when all those federal gun control laws were enacted? To quote you, "did gun owners not vote?" If you don't like what you see on the federal level, why don't you just move? Easier said than done, eh? |

Why's Assault Weapon not legal in the state of California? I could understand if it's banned in the major city like L.A. or San Fran, but i don't see why the rest of the state can't sell them.
I live in IL and Chicago bans Assault Weapons, but not the whole state is affected. |

Here's my take on CA.
CA has basically gone bye bye. The people there are in this la la land fantasy. They have become materialistic, superficial, and unfocused. They are the ephitomy of the ME generation. The state motto outta be "whats in it for me" When they passed 4 anti gun laws in 1 yr, as well as not being able to have a Christmas Party cause it does not represent the majority, it has to be a Holiday party. That was the last straw for me. There are many more assinine local laws out there. The reason why gun laws will never be repealed are due to a few factors. 1) Lack of cohesive effort. Everyone are afraid to band together and do something. I have talked to a few lawyers about possibly suing the state for infringing on the 2nd Ammemdment cause of SB23. These are supposedly pro-gun lawyers. Bottomline they did not think they will win. 2) Defetist attitudes of gun owners. Everyone just bitches. Everyone is scared of getting caught for something(sadly me included). When a call for action is needed a majority of the gunner think ahh, it will never happen. Gunners are also divided. Those shotgun hunter types that think they can sit around and do nothing cause they are not in jeopardy. And the Assault weapon owners who are now in hiding. 3) Anti gun politicians. No matter how active you are, the majority of CA is anti gun. Politicians are out for the popularity vote. Popularity dictates stupid laws to make their life simplier. Change those 3 and you will see a change in CA. |

Kalifornia:
Good: Beautiful weather, especially in the Bay Area. Not too hot, not too cold. Bad: Weather is so nice that droughts are a problem Good: Scenery, mountains, parks, lakes. Bad: Sharing it with 33 million others. Good: San Francisco on a cool summers' day. Bad: YOU can't afford to live here. Good: Racial and human diversity tolerance. Bad: Includes granting medical benefits paid with my tax dollars so people can switch gender. Good: Civil rights are highly regarded. Bad: Except for self-defence. Good: San Francisco's beauty and charm. Bad: Fighting the crowds on the streets and the freeways. Good: 4 hours to awesome skiing Bad: Californians can't drive in the snow (and the rain, or for that matter, when it is dry) and I have to go across the Bay Bridge and deal with over 20 miles of heavily congested Interstate 80. Good: Santa Cruz Mountains on my motorcycle on a Sunday. Bad: Never-ending streams of traffic really screw up my rhythm. Good: Excellent restaurants. Bad: You can't get into any of the hot places on any night, and just try to find anything under $20 on the menu Good: My home is appreciating at 30% a year. Bad: I can't afford to sell, and blackouts are coming, so what will that do to appreciation? My fiance and I are looking for a place to move to. Our requirements- 1) mountains, trees, lakes 2) Must be CCW friendly, class 3 firearms allowed 3) within 30 miles of a city, but less than 100,000 people. 4) No 4 months of snow please. It would be nice to be able to work, but if we can hold out for another 5 years here we won't have to. That, my friends, is what is still keeping us here. madkiwi |

Good point, Troy. Problem is the people who live in the urban areas dictate to the people who live in the rural areas how to live.

This state is part of the U.S. I may leave but I wish no ill will on the people here.
BTW name a more beautiful state. G`head. |

As Troy stated I am being ORDERED into California. Not at gun point but but under threat of jail by good old uncle Sam. The best thing is part of getting stationed in California is that that my COLA (cost of living adjustment) is based on two or three year old surveys on $1.15 a gallon gasoline and seven cent a kilowatt electricity.
I'm going to see if I can find a safe home for my rifles on the base. I wonder how long it is before California tells the military that "all your bases belong to us" and make us turn in all our nasty weapons? |

Did you know that well over fifty percent of the population of the State of Kalifornia is on public welfare. The requirements to obtain public welfare in the PRK are two, one you must show up at a welfare office in Kalifornia, two you must have a mailing address in Kalifornia. No need to prove you're a US citizen. No need to speak English. Just slip across the border and sign up. Your buddy (whom gave you the mailing address) will mail your check home to you in Mexico. That fifty plus percent is now learning that it can vote itself an ever increasing amount of the tax dollars of the minority. What with a horrible crime rate, enormous drug problem, horribly filthy air, complete loss of moral values, and frothingly anti-gun political climate, the PRK has got to be absolutely one of the worse places on Earth to live. I wouldn't live there unless death were the other choice. Besides the weather, which everyone thinks is so great, really isn't that good (remember "June gloom" to name a few problems). The weather in northern Arizona and New Mexico is vastly superior to the PRK smog-encrusted haze. I pitty anyone whom is forced, against their will as I'm sure you all are, to live in Kalifornia.

Frank, I believe it was, asked how many 30 round mags I bought recently? Well Frank, this year I have bought 5 for my AK and one 15 round for my Glock. I guess it's true that they treat you all like mushrooms out there in California.

Couldn't pass this up after reading some of the responses.
There seems to be alot of opinions, some of which are only partially correct. Yes, there are alot of problems here but not everyone nor the majority are without morals. There are alot of good people still left in this state. If you are a person with christian beliefs, which I am, there are lots of church going people here as well. No, not everyone by virtue of church attendance is "good" but there are quite a few who are true to their beliefs. There are quite a few things I can find here I can't seem to find in some places as easily as I can find it here. For example, I build alot of electronic items and can go to many electronic part stores [other than Radio Shack - Overpriced!] and get what I need. British auto parts, etc.... Nothing is absolute. California is not all bad, many of the sheeple are misinformed. Partilly by choice and partially by the politicians. I kinda agree with frank the Spank, but at the same time i'm looking for other places as well. I've tried to do what I can and will continue to try. I would like to get a second home elsewhere but I have some serious concerns. First, I have to be concened about my family and their safety. I have serious concerns about moving to certain parts of the country when I read the topic of a post [on another gun board] which it titled , "Better trigger locks or better nigger locks". It concerns me when those in agreement are concentrated in certain parts of the country. It only makes me question how safe my family would be as I am in an interracial relationship. Maybe it reinforces the stereotypes of these places?? These places seem nice as there are alot of gun owners there and the people are pretty sensible but other than that..... with titles like that, its not a place i'd want to be. My other concerns with moving are the health and well being of my mother and brother as my mother is getting older and my brother often has problems related to his diabetes. He will have periods where he will pass out frequently, some times my mother has found him and has had to lift him by herself..................... Anyway, I could go on. |

Hello!
Why California? Because, as an 18yr old senior in high school you have adult status. You and your friends don your shades, grab your beach ball, and head for the principal's office. Complain that you're ill as you fish your sandles from your backpack, write yourself a sicknote, and head for the beach (45min away). Spend the rest of the morning at the beach before driving the Pacific Coast Highway to catch an afternoon Giant's game. After the game, pile in the car and head up to Tahoe for spring skiing all weekend. At least that's what I did in high school. Home, beach, snow...all within 4 hours of each other. Unfortunately, I went to New Hampshire for college and, in my peers, met some of the nastiest, most narrow minded and unfriendly people ever. Liberals and conservative alike. Flash forward 5 years...had the "opportunity" to do 2 consulting engagements...one in Research Triangle Park (NC) and the other in the "Telecom Corridor" outside Dallas... RTP, please! Four companies and three exits on the freeway. Blinked and missed it the first time. Took a wrong turn, hello Deliverance!!! Shouldn't even be on the map. Plano/Richardon, please! The only reason I didn't miss that exit was because Texans drive too d@mn slow. Hot, sticky, rainy, and the traffic is just as bad. Both reconfirmed my "unpleasant people" experience (excluding one memorable Superbowl night at BD-FW [sex] ). Reaffirmed never to live east of the continental divide (unless at BD-FW [sex] ). Weather is nicer here, people are nicer here. CA was the only state to truly enjoy this last economic boom and, while things are not as good, we're certainly nowhere close to Flint, Mich. or Houston, TX. Normal = growth, Recession = slow growth (but still growing). California is different. Gunowners are a small minority which is why laws get passed. At the same time, there are more/better gun stores/ranges/clubs in the Bay Area than I saw in Raleigh/Durham or Dallas. Each weekend, there are at least 2 different ranges doing IPSC/IDPA/3-gun. I could literally shoot CMP both days every weekend. Having 10 total fireams counts as a gun store in NC or TX. The stores here each have 10 Glock 19s in stock. All the time. And an entirely separate counter for Sigs. And another for H&Ks. And one counter dedicated to 1911 clones! I searched fruitlessly in NC and TX for "special items." Couldn't find them. Looked in gun stores, looked in pawn shops, looked in surplus stores. Nada. So the stuff that's illegal here is just as unavailable there too. It's like marketing and fulfillment is still back in the 50's or something. California will come around for some things (but likely not guns). The "new" minorities are Asian and Indian. They are the reason affirmative action is gone--it was harder to get into Berkeley as an Asian female that it was for a white male. Hispanics in this state are shifting far away from their agrarian roots. These groups vote quite differently than the traditional "minority" base. If Republicans were more libertarian and less Christian / pro-life then they would carry the state. As it stands Republicans lost by less than 5% of the population. And when the "Prince of Darkness" runs for reelection, he is in for a rude awakening. Even the liberal editorials ridicule him now. Condoleezza Rice for Governor! |
|
How about an invasion of California? All these refugees gotta be pissed about buggin' out and losing all the "great things" they've left behind.

I personally would like to see less of our type moving out of Cali and even more of us moving in. The only way to turn this around is from inside. I do not believe for a momant that if we conceede their socialist paradice to them that they will stop there. Better for all us if California sees the error of its ways. Should stop movements in other states cold (and possibally restore some common sense)....

Would like to move out,but i work in the construction biz.I also have many hobbys that are availible here in ca yes the gun laws suck!.but im not freezing my ass off in the winter with 3 feet of snow.I also do alot of saltwater fishing in the summer tuna season. If i went to another state i probably could not afford to have the guns i do now so what good what it be to live where i couldnt afford a good ar.Some day i do hope to move but not for a while.Where else can you go scuba diving, ride your motorcycle and still make it to the range.

Everyone that lives in an anti-gun state, like: CA, NY, NJ, HI, MA, MD, PA, OH, MI, & IL should move immediately.

Californians, take hope, times change and pendelums swing.
Only a few years ago, a Republican was governor. I think a charismatic Republican governor could beat Gray by a mile in the next election. Every time goverment goes too far one way, the people bring it back the other way. Stay and fight is an option! Colorado had Democratic Governors and Senators for 20 years. Now all three posistions are Republican. |

Ones they've been waiting to pass which they couldn't in the past. Anyway, A state senator, Don Perata -D, Alameda County introduced SB-23 which banned certain semi-automatic firearms by certain characteristics. If you had a semi-auto which accepted a detachable magazine OR had a fixed magazine which held more than ten rounds and had any ONE of the follow items, its had to be registered as an "assault weapon". Some of the characteristics are as follows: 1)Pistol Grip 2)Bayonett Lug/mount 3)Flash Supressor 4)Folding stock 5)Thumbhole stock 6)A total length less than 30 inches 7)A barrel which is threaded and can readily accept a flash hider or noise supressor. This may not be all of the items but you get the idea. They are trying to pass others. Another one which passed was SB-15. It was to rid the state of "junk guns" [whatever those may be]. This bill required laboratory testing of all models of guns sold in the state and possibly, I don't remember for sure, required that all handguns be sold with a "safety lock". Ironically, the "junk guns" passed the safety test! LOL For more info go to: [url]http://caag.state.ca.us/firearms/[/url] |

I was just in Southern California last week for a conference (and some scuba diving), and while San Diego and San Francisco are pretty nice, L.A. and everything around it, is just a giant boil on the backside of the United States, and apart from a few nice places like Santa Monica and Malibu, it totally sucks ass!
So what that the weather is nice? The weather is also nice on parts of Africa's West Coast, but I don't want to live there either. If there's some really neat job that would pay me enough to live in a place like the Bay area in SF or Malibu outside LA, then I might do it, but otherwise I fail to see the attraction of Southern California. The weather would start to really bore me after a while. |
