My mother and I were talking about her grandfather at dinner. It occurred to me that he was born in 1890 and died in 1979, so he hung in there. In his life, he saw every Pirates WS win (1909, 1925, 1960, 1971, 1979).

He took my grandmother (his daughter) and my mother (his granddaughter) to see games at Forbes Field. She's taken me to see games at Three Rivers and PNC.

It's pointless I know, but just a little baseball connection to way back when.

Sucks to see him go, but I'm glad the Royals didn't bite that bullet.

It'll be interesting to see what they do with the payroll they cleared earlier this offseason now that he's off the shopping list.

I can never and will never hate Rajai Davis. He and Hall of Famer Alan Trammel are the only Tigers to hit an Ultimate Slam in my lifetime.

The radio call for this home run was awesome. Dan Dickerson was out of breath making the call. Look it up on AtBat. It's worth hearing.

Davis' grand slam wins it for the Tigers

I cant seem to figure out how to do that. I subscribe to the AtBat app so I can listen to day games at work, but I cant seem to access any type of archives. I think I need MLB Network on my TV (which I dont have).

I always liked the International Call (Matt Vasgersian) of Rajais Game 7 HR better than stupid Bucks. SANTA MARIA!!

The Pens did a pretty good job smacking the Loafs around last night. They did what you need to do to beat the Leafs, put Austen Mathews on his butt and play the body against Marner and the rest. I still think the Pens are are favoured to go all the way.

The Pens have a good shot at the Wild Card and the post-season, but the Met Division is so tight and going into the Wild Card right now, they need to do everything right and get lucky with Boston, Philly, and Toronto doing everything wrong.

Vegas getting this far just shows how messed up the expansion team-building process is. New teams shouldn't be able to just cherry pick their way to the post-season in Year 1.

Oh that thing!

On one hand I feel bad for Browns fans because they are so sad. On the other its their own fault.

I cant stand sports radio. But I tuned in during the streak to see what they were saying. They were talking about the Browns the whole time. About how it was all gonna turn around. Yeah, they lost every freakin game. They get what they deserve.

I know this whole town is still pissed at the Indians from the previous owners selling off anyone worth anything, but shit, now is the time to show up and support them. They deserve it way more than the Browns. But they wont. Maybe a bit more next year after Lebron leaves again. Maybe.

I know Philly as a whole sucks, but everytime Pittsburgh teams play a Philly team (Stillers-Eagles, Pens-Flyers, Pirates-Phillies) it's touted as a family thing, you know between brothers. But going against the Browns just feels more like taking that asshole down the street to Fist City.

Wait until he's a teenager and every time Dad is around the kid is mortified, just because every kid ever between the ages of 13-23 thinks their Old Man is an embarrassment.

My dad used to go out of his way to say and do things in public or around my friends that made we want to run and hide.

Manfred and the Union came to an agreement on pace of play rule changes.

Non-pitching change mound visits will be limited to 6 per nine innings.

They are adding super slow-mo to the team reviews for challenges, and they are going to be monitoring the team communications to make sure they aren't stealing signs.

They are are putting a clock on inning breaks.

They are going to start enforcing the batter staying in the box rule.

there was one other one too, I missed it though.

There's already a clock on breaks between each half inning. Or I'm confusing MLB with the minors.

I see.

Heres another exception.
ETA: Holy shit. It includes infielders too.

A player leaving his position to confer with the pitcher, including a pitcher leaving the mound to confer with another player, shall also constitute a mound visit, regardless of where the visit occurs or the length of the visit, except that the following shall not constitute mound visits:

A. Discussions between pitchers and position player(s) that (i) occur between batters in the normal course of play and do not require either the position player(s) or the pitcher to relocate;

B. Visits by position players to the mound to clean spikes in rainy conditions;

C. Visits to the mound due to an injury or potential injury of the pitcher; and

D. Visits to the mound after the announcement of an offensive substitution.

So, to recap: for 150 years this hasn't been an issue, but now that Manfred is Commissioner we need to speed up the game in the hopes of getting non-baseball fans, who don't like baseball anyways, to watch baseball even though the replays drag the game to a halt.

I really wish Rob Manfred would have a debilitating stroke. Enough so that he is perfectly conscious but has no motor control at all.

Bob Nutting is a gonorrhea on baseball and Rob Manfred is fucking syphilis.

To bad the managers and players don't just publicly mutiny.  Just keep playing the way they've been playing and every single time they give an interview end with "...it's YOUR game and Manfred is killing the game and has to go."

I'm pretty sure the Constitution prohibits cruel and unusual punishments.

Probably warning from the ump, then ejections, then fines if it keeps happening.

I mean, what does that dickhead Manfred think will happen, shave a minute here and there and suddenly a whole new fanbase will show up? "Well, I though baseball was boring and trite and dull, but they shaved ten minutes off a game. I'm hooked now!"

I hated Selig, but I downright loathe Manfred. I wouldn't piss on him if his heart was on fire.

Yeah he did. At first I laughed because the AAV seemed much lower than he wanted. Then I seen it was so heavily front loaded.

They were bidding against themselves. Not like there was a chance in hell he was going back to the Sneks.
