I remember seeing that (or something similar) during boot. Maybe during 2nd phase at Pendleton?

It's been a long time tho. It's not new.

And it's wrong.

The "knock twice" guy? Well, I'm still alive, and I haven't seen him around lately. Those two facts aren't necessarily related though.

Actually -- the HOA Board is issuing a sternly worded memo (we specialize in sternly worded memos) detailing procedure for contacting board members, as in "DON'T FUCKING RING MY DOORBELL, EVER, unless the building is on fire or bodies are on the ground". Not in those exact words, but they'll get the point.

Back in the Old Corps we were taught to assault. Yes fire and maneuver as in frontal assault and single envelopement. But never was I ever taught to move away from the enemy. Even in bayonet training “Shuffle. Backwards!” Was met with “Stand and die Sir”.

a Marine LTC once explained the Navy rules of fighting (in public on a Powerpoint slide, for a class of Army officers):

1. Assume an aggressive offshore position.
2. Send in the Marines.
3. Drink coffee.

a retired USAF E-8 once explained to me the USAF rules of fighting:

1. Assume a secure rear-area position.
2. Throw officers at the enemy.

I have no idea what the Army rules of fighting are, but I am quite sure it involves PowerPoint.
