As a die hard Star Trek fan I'm really liking The Orville. Seth Macfarland hasn't gone Libtard in the 4 episodes I've seen. Actually seems against many liberal agendas like sex changes etc. Very true to classic Star Trek thus far.

I missed the first few episodes but it's growing on me.  Plus if you don't look at the TV it sounds like Brian from Family Guy is the captain of the ship

The First Episode is re-airing tonight at 9pm EDT for anyone who missed it.   You can see all the other episodes except this one on the Fox site.

I’m loving it. Really surprised how far they are going with regard to the gender politics and religious commentary. There’s a certain intentional reverence for both sides of a debate. Clearly, Fox will kill it.

And Steve from American Dad is the pilot.

Eta, they should've made Francine / Mrs Rumsfeld the computer voice, if there is one.

A couple of the episodes skipped too much. The plots could have filled two episodes.

Pretty good though, and I was never much of a Star Trek fan.

He actually is pretty liberal but he is a comedian that sees the worth in making fun of anything worth making fun of reguardless of if it's left or right. I've enjoyed the show even though im not really a Star Trek fan. I did not get that he is against sex change in that episode but more so he is against making the choice for a child rather than letting the child decide for themselves. I see it allot like a south park show where making fun of anything or everything with the Seth flair set in a Star Trek atmosphere.

I'm really liking it.  The episode where they find the ship with the people living inside the fake world on it really felt like Star Trek.

I liked that one too it felt like ST because it was a ripoff of the TOS episode For the World is Hollow and I have touched the Sky

No, it was a rip off of a Robert Heinlein story mashed up with an Isaac Asimov story.  "Universe" and "Nightfall".

I thought it was gonna be a total shit show like Family Guy in space, but I have been pleasantly surprised by the show so far. I have a friend who's cousin has a recurring role on the show. He plays the various alien characters that are in total body makeup.

First couple of episodes were rather feminist, but ever since then it's been neutral, or even a little conservative.

I have to say that the cuts and music are very siilar to Star Trek TNG. Frakes even directed an episode.

It seem more star trek than star trek at this point.

The Orville is an awesome show so far, but the season only being 7 episodes sucks shit.

For anyone saying it is a SJW show can go fuck themselves, because it is no mor so than Star Trek TNG.

Learn how to relax and just enjoy a TV show for a change.

The episode where the female child was born in an all-male society was interesting, and if your premise were true I don't think the episode would have went the way it did.

It seemed to respect cultural boundaries with protest.

i grudgingly admit MacFarlane is funny, but I prob. would not go up to him on the street, or buy him a beer. for whatever that's worth. there's been far less comedy in my life since obama's second term. it's like if you don't toe the democrat line, you're not getting work. it sucks.

Which was a ripoff of Heinleins story Universe which has been ripped off by everyone in the universe.

We can only hope they do a Halloween episode and Adrianne Palicki shows up in her Wonder Woman costume.

I refuse to watch the new Star Trek, but I really love The Orville. It is surprisingly high quality science fiction, on the same level as Next Generation, but with Firefly's comedic sensibilities.

I was pretty skeptical after seeing the previews, but pleasantly surprised after watching the first few episodes.  Now I'm a fan.

They found a good balance between humor and science fiction, with a pinch of sexiness tossed in for seasoning.

I am kinda sorta starting to like it.

Not sure if it is supposed to be comedy, sci-fi, social commentary or what

One thing I do like is it imagines a future in which people are still acting like people, unlike the Star Trek universe where nobody ever farts.

McFarlane describes it as MASH in space. I think that's a good description.
