At least I teach my self a lot of of machining stuff and materials stuff (one of the labs is on heat treating steel which of course I do all the time).
But I really wanted to use the big machinery like the lathe and mill that I don't have. One of the normal projects is you make a hammer out of brass with a steel rod connection and aluminum handle so three total machined parts. I guess me and many others won't have one.

According to my club pres they are still closing the machine shop and labs to clubs and students (except for the few sections with classes there) because "muh COVID"
its a filtered room where you already where PPE (including masks in a few of the rooms) sans COVID bullshit anyways makes a lot of fucking sense right. Apparently its to "protect the grad students" working in there. |

The worst part is that I can't even choose to wait to take this class, because if I don't take every class I signed up for this semester I will have to come back an extra semester for senior design because the way the pre-reqs work. And that costs me more money and time, and they sure as hell don't deserve more of my money or time.

Its nice because the copper is super soft, even compared to brass, and it doesn't marr surfaces much. My major is mechanical engineering |
