1). I am an adult. I am mentally sound and may view whatever I like.

2). Occasionaly I will come across scenes, movies, pics, text I do not like. I, as an adult, do not think this will poison my brain. I will just not view that scene, movie, pic, text again.

3). We talk about the Bill of Rights quite often around here....let's see.....1 freedom of speech.....2 right to keep and bear arms.....sound familiar? So if we are talking about what OTHERS will think when they see porn or something offensive on this site then what will OTHERS think when we censor the postings.....? Hmmmm The second amendment is good, but maybe that first one just needs to go?

4. It is the responsibility of the adult to supervise the non adults who might be on the internet!

5. If your wife is viewing a post and she is offended, then she, as an adult, can make a discision. If she receives permanent mental or emotional damage we will take up a collection for her future care.

6. Let all post as they wish without fear of the "Jack booted Moderators". Seriously, if they post something that they believe may be offensive require them to add (ADULT ONLY) to the post title. WE CAN NOT CONDONE CENSORSHIP! Nor can anyone here be responsible or take responsibility for who views the posts.

sorry, had to rant a little.

Sarge,
You have every right to believe however you wish, but there's one small fact that seems to escape you. This site is privately owned, and your rights here are contingent upon you complying with the rules and guidelines of conduct that the owner has set.
Edward has given us this site, and the only payment he asks for is that folks respect his wishes. If doing so is a hardship on you, please let us know and we'll try to correct it for you.
BTW- I prefer Reeboks and Justin Ropers to Jackboots.

VERY well said SGT , I hope this thread ends soon. I would really miss this web site alot (including the folks here) if I ever feel as though my 1st Amendment rights were trampled upon by a $0.02 website moderator. I've read a couple of posts by our mods. recently and even though none of their posts topics had anything to do with myself personally, they came across threatening and VERY unlike the personalities I had previously attached to those screen names. Ohhwell, nuttin' last for ever I guess, use to be a real nice place.  -- Les

Where's My "locked" button?[:P]

This whole thing has been done over and over again. You, Me, We're all guests here. The 1st amendment doesn't apply if we're in someone else's house just like the 2nd amendment means nothing in someone else's country. It's just bad manners to leave muddy bootprints in a place you were graciously invited to, then say "It's a free country", ignoring the sign on the door where it's written "please wipe your feet". The rules have now been spelled out in easy-to-read English, so there should be no misunderstanding. Is it really that big of a deal??

It was not my intention to upset any moderators. I do understand that the owner of this domain, bandwith, etc. has a right to his personal wishes, but it is hypocritical, don't you think, to selectively support only those rights which we choose. We are all here because we LOVE guns, our Country, our rights. We are here to exchange ideas, thoughts, experiences with life, guns, and rights. It's OK for a Bill of Rights supporter to say porn is wrong, or at least some may be wrong, yet cry foul when the Government says some guns are wrong.

The "Jack Booted Moderator" comment was in just. Thought everyone might see the irony.

I do respect the owners wishes, and would not wear my muddy boots into his "home", however my personal belief is that the "homeowner" might need to rethink his stance. I also believe he runs an awesome site (well, once the small type thingy was fixed)!

There is a time and place for us to exersize each of our rights. That doesn't mean we have to force them all out everywhere we go. Part of acting in a mature manner is recognizing when and where things are appropriate. We all need to take responsibility for ourselves, and we can keep this place nice.

Sarge,
Your comments were a long way from upsetting me. No one is telling you what you can and cannot say or think. All that is asked of the members is that they conduct themselves and debate ideas and opinions as adults. Personally, my hope is that we gun owners can show that we're not the irrational, irresponsible psychos that we're continually made out to be.
I took your Jackboot comment as humor, since, growing up here in Texas, jackboots never quite caught on as a fashion statement.

Alot of good points have been made but lets consider this, while it is true that adults should monitor children and be aware of their activities should they consider this a pron site? What warning do they have of the contents, of the postings and pictures? I would hope that a child in this day and age would find a site which addresses firearms. Maye they would learn something from an Ar15.com, a 1911forums.com, Ak-47.net, etc. If a site contains things which are inappropriate for children then it would become prohibited. Do we want to be classified as porn is classified? Do we want to end up on list like NetNanny, etc? Yes, we are adults and we can think freely but consider what a loss it would be for a child/teenager/etc to be denied the information and stories - the positive things we can share about gun ownership. In some stores firearms publications are prohibited, treated like contraban. This may be one of the few sources available to younger generations. Possibly the only positive influence they may have regarding the 2nd Amendment. It would be a great loss if they were denied access, some ISPs already consider firearms taboo.

Mister hemi (I won't make any Dodge jokes, although they always looked great in my rearview) [:D]

Do you really think we ARE NOT listed on Netnanny? If a child, preteen, or teen is on this site, OR ANY OTHER SITE, an adult should supervise them. No ifs, ands, or buts. I do believe children could learn very much from this site, as I have. The fact remains that the content children are exposed to whether TV, Radio, Internet, or any other medium should be monitored and controlled by the parents. That is their responsibility. I know this is hard to phantom, but I imagine (due to the highly liberal populous) that there are many parents who would rather not have their children exposed to "EVIL" weapons of mass destruction (however inappropriate this thought process is). Truth be know, most parents would die if they knew half of what their children viewed on the Internet.

Actually, how about a seperate forum. We could email a jpg of our license or State issued ID card as proof of age. This might not be a bad idea for the whole board. From a liability standpoint if some child decides to do something stupid and says he learned, heard, got the idea on ar15.com that would not look favorably on us would it?

It's just an idea [:D]

Anyone have thoughts on this?

Everyone is always attempting to "push the envelope" as far as they can...

The rules are there for a reason, not my reasonings, or yours for that matter, but the site owners'.  These rules were created because of the obvious necessity to do so, as we have already seen on this new site what can/will happen without some "required" level of control (IE: Moderation).

We have been round-n-round about the 1st Ammendment rights not applying and the Marxist type censorship, but it's all really a mute topic isn't it..?  The owners set the rules, and then put a few of us in a position to enforce them...  Period!

Now, lets move on to bigger, better things and talk guns...  What do ya all say..?  [;)]

News Flash, from Nutscrape.cam:

Chicago: Area hospitals reported that about one hundred little children were killed today..by "doctors" who sucked them a piece at a time from their mother's bodies, in an operation called..ABORTION. The little babies' bodies were thrown out into the trash,

b/c they were "not really people yet", only "fetuses", said a hospital spokesperson,. She declined to tell the names of the doctors, or how much they'd been paid to kill the children, but ...I guess few care anyway.

BTW..I'll give y'all a nickle if you can tell me which "story" makes the "news" tonight:mad:

Tell the fucking right wing pro life freaks to keep their shit on the politics page.

And if we dont have one yet on this site go to the old one or too fucking bad. [:(!]

The only way to censor this board and avoid hypocracy is to restrict discussions to FIREARMS TOPICS ONLY and that means censoring BS like Fred post as well as nudie pictures.

Are you up to it guys? I think you will perhaps find it easier to just leave this as a free for all...
