The obviously friendly dog who was entirely in his own yard didn’t die, and the trigger happy cop didn’t die. A happy ending! With maybe just a pinch of karmic retribution to top it all off.

|
Dude shot himself . Send him back to 'don't shoot yourself' school...
|

As I sit here with my dog on the couch, this story warms the heart.

When someone says "Why didn't you just shoot it in the leg" I guess the cop kept that thought in mind when firing.
|
|
LOL @ the body armor in the follow up.
I guess when you have that many cops around it makes sense to wear body armor all the time. |

You do have to laugh at the pit bulls name being "Precious". And I guarantee you that this thread quietly slips away.
IF the officer? killed/shot the dog, everyone would be screaming, OMG PITBULL ATTACKED, GOOD SHOOT!!!!!. |

"We're told that his injuries are non life threatening, however the deputy is now on suicide watch as a result of the ribbing he's already enduring from other officers. Back to you, Jim..."

Someone, PLEASE, find the clip from police academy when that guy(Michael Winslow?) Does the barking dog thing.
|
|
Probably a good thing the dog wasn't so threatening that the officer had to do a mag dump into his own leg.

I bet the dog was also behind the fence. View Quote That guy needs to go. No pension, no severance. Find another job he can actually handle, and he shouldn't be allowed to even look at firearms again. The family should also sue him personally for trying to kill their contained dog. |

Best part: "the dog was not illegal, I mean doing anything illegal"

Dog was in a fenced in yard and barked at an intruder to protect its kids, a natural response and what you would want your dog to do.
Cop needs a little more training. |
|
Guy was an idiot for shooting himself.
But I'm not gonna say he was wrong for drawing on the dog. Thread title makes it sound as if he was trying to shoot the dog as it was playing with the kids when, in actuality, he drew on the dog prior to that as it approached him barking and acting aggressive while he was serving papers. I'd much rather shoot a dog before it bites me than wait until it has. |

It's gonna be a long time before people stop giving this guy shit...if ever

Lol. Even with all that commotion and surrounded by strangers, that dog was cool as a cucumber. Something tells me it didn't even come close to attacking Officer ShootFirst. That's mighty fine police work!

Glad the officer wasn't hurt more severely, but also glad he disabled himself enough to keep from shooting Precious.

PSA: Don't shoot yourself in the leg while trying to kill a friendly dog for no reason.
