Mutineer's Moon, by David Webber.
The moon is actually a very old interstellar battleship abandoned during a mutiny. Many of the original crew are still alive on earth and the two factions are still fighting each other with advanced weaponry and by influencing groups of "us" to fight for them. Pretty good book. |

That's no moon, the Earth-Moon system is a double planet!
The Moon is one fourth the size of Earth. With the exception of Pluto and Charon, it is larger in comparison with the planet it orbits than any other satellite in the solar system. Not only that, but the Moon is so large that it doesn't really orbit Earth at all. Both bodies orbit a point located between them. This makes the motion of the Earth-Moon system as it orbits the sun something like a spinning dumbbell with the weights on the ends mismatched. |

A rock, about the size of Mars, hit the primordial Earth so hard it knocked the material that became the Moon off into orbit and returned the Earth to a more or less molten form for a geologic while.

Again, this altered the mass of the Earth, and greatly changed its' mass and hence gravity. some others claim the Moon was "captured" by the Earth, but /I believe the mathematics favor the collision theory, although the Capture theory is possible. |

The moon is fake just like global warming and the Apollo moon landing. It was all done in sound studio 18 near the Buena Vista silos. The silos are abandon now but that's where they used to run the production and generator equipment.
