I voted JK(U) as that's what I'm driving now. I've owned a CJ and a YJ, but I skipped/missed the TJ/LJ years. The JK(U) is the most capable Jeep off the showroom floor ever. Soccer moms be damned, it just is.
CJ-8 is my holy grail Jeep. I loved those when I was a kid (14-years-old in '86 when they stopped making them). When I get around to building one, it'll have a hybrid LJ coil spring setup and a modern V6/V8 in it, though. I might own one of the new Jeep "not-a-scrambler" trucks eventually when they hit the affordable used market. |

I can't drive that to work or take my family of 4 to the beach in it. Fail.

JT looks ok I guess. I've given up on getting a true modern Scrambler. How hard is it to make a 2-door JK Unlimited? View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

That's good to know! It'd still freak me out a bit, but as long as they use good connectors I'm sure it's probably fine in most cases. Waiting for the JT Scrambler to arrive in 2019, and that will become my new DD. Maybe my CJ7 will be slightly more complete than just a bare frame by then. I'd buy one, not many other folks would. |

How come there is no option for the XJ with a 4.0? You get the coils in the front, the leafs in the back, longer wheel base, and more room to store shit. They were pretty cool rigs too. It's too bad cash for clunkers murdered so many of them. View Quote |

Anybody who ever been in the thick of it would know the XJ is too big for most trails View Quote XJ track width is 69". CJ6 is 53", JK is 62". It's not really that much bigger than a JK. Certainly not too big for trails. Compared to my brother's 3rd gen 4Runner it's downright svelte. |

Does the top come off? Does the windshield fold down? No? Go sit in the corner with the FJ losers

Oddly enough I enjoyed the XJ the most.
Doesn't apply to thread but my thoughts. A mild lift, cut and rolled fenders, lockers, and nice mud tires makes a nice universal trail rig. |

Plus they fold in half for compact storage when you take the top and doors off of them. View Quote Seen and operated many different XJs wheeling without stiffeners and oddly enough very few come away with a broken unibody. About as many TJs the break the frame over the rear wheels. |

On an old heep that you don't give a damn about, those are cool features. On a new jeep that you're still paying for, lost and broken parts will piss you off. I have had all of them including more than one of a few. The newest Jeep is the most capable and better in all aspects. The 2018 will be even better.
The best Jeep is built, stretched, 4 link front and rear, one tons, ORI Struts, Atlas, LS1, etc. |

The TJ, or JK, or whatever that has a 14 bolt rear, Drivers drop Kingpin 60 front, Detroit, spool, Stretched to 104", 16" coilovers, LOWERED, Flat skid, hydro assist, three link front, double triangulated rear, 40's on beadlocks is the best jeep.
If you haven't gotten to this stage yet, you have a lot more wheeling to do. I started with a 2003 TJ Rubicon. it ended up as the above as I drove it harder, and in more challenging terrain. |
