That's a fine collection. I see that elusive Blanton's hiding back in the corner.

I wonder what it will look like 6 mos. from now? Either grown a bunch or nothing but a bunch of empty bottles.

By the way, how is that Makers Cask strength? I have not purchased any Makers to date.

ETA: You provided a good overview of this. I think I may have to jump on a bottle next time I see it.

Yea, my wife asked me again tonight why the collection keeps growing.

I said, remember when I took up re-loading? Yep. Same thing only with Bourbon. And no fear of lead poisoning.

I have switched totally to drinking neat at this point. It's amazing how the taste changes.

So far tonight I have had OF 1920, Belle Meade and Knob Creek 120. I give the lead slightly to Knob Creek over OF 1920 but it's damn close. The KC has that slight burn at the end which I like. Belle Meade has fallen to third.

Tomorrow night I will open the Barrell BATCH 008b and provide my take on it.

Keep the recommendations coming and if you are in FLA stay high and dry.

Based on what you post, you will love Makers cask strength, it is not the regular Makers as far as taste, but it is still smooth.
This is 111 or 112 proof.

You will love it, tasty and ultra smooth, it is mild for what it is, but the taste is worth it.

Zello is an app that the Cajun Navy was using when they came in and suggested its use for search and rescue assistance.
It's just a suggestion, it links people up by converting their phones into 2 way radios.
I have been using it since, cause my son was doing high water rescues in Houston.
No big deal if you don't wanna mess with it, but arfcommers from all over are talking to each other and providing assistance or just listening in case they can help.

This thread is great, thank's for keeping it going.

Sounds kind of cool. I will have to check it out. I was a CBer back in the day and have played a little with HAM radio. This sounds much more like 21st Century stuff.

I am sipping on a little Bookers now. I have to say this is VERY good neat. I apparently am easy to please. Maybe I should go back to regular Jim Beam.

The answer is simple.  Go on Ebay and buy a Pappy Red bottle.....$75 and up.  Fill it with any good bourbon.  I like Jefferson's but any good bourbon will work.  Never tell anybody and you will actually fool yourself.  Every time you pour a sip you'll swear you're drinking the real thing.  Helps if you're slightly stupid and/or suffering a bit from dementia.

Anyone know what's up with Weller? I can't find any of the varieties anywhere and haven't seen it on the shelves in a while. I live in NY.

That's exactly what an owner of a local store told me. But I don't think he used the term fuckstick.

I ended up googling "WL Weller availability" and came to the same conclusion. I agree with the term "fuckstick." First rule of fight club...

The really annoying part is there's probably a bottle on some hipsters shelf who can't taste the difference between Weller, Jameson, or Dewars.

Because it tastes like cardboard.
Maker's Cask Strength is much more palatable and stands up well to Blanton's.

With the amount of people saying "Blanton's" in this thread and how elusive it is on the shelves I think I should go back and buy all 10 bottles I saw today.

They actually had a Blanton's display and IIRC it was $64.99.

It is just not worth $65 to me.

Bourbon prices are getting out of hand IMO.

I guess I'll go be poor somewhere else.

i'm new to bourbon.. I started drinking scotch about a year ago and a buddy bought me a bottle of bookers, and I really liked it.

so over the past few months I taken a few hints from conversations here.  I like the Blantons but i'm liking the Eagles a bit better.

it has a hint of sweetness.

So far I've tried booker, blantons, ER, trails end and bulleit. ER is my fav so far
