I liked it until the freaks started showing up in costume.
Now? Not so much. |

Love the show but wish they would get rid of the junk steel, add 1 more hour for handles, and cut back on the hipsters.

My one criticism is that some of the tests are retarded. Who chops at deer antlers with a knife? Have them make saws.

The strength tests are the best part. The knifemakers breathe a sigh of relief after sharpness tests, but even the confident ones cringe and get a cold sweat when the ice or huge leg bones start getting whacked. I love that part.
ETA, the ones who aren't so confident are even better. |

It's ok. I'll watch it if they're making something cool. Making a talwar is not cool.

Yeah, who the fuck is this guy and what's his claim to fame??? He looks like a hobbit and the whole genuflecting thing strikes me as an affectation. Is he a Flip or buddhist? Or a Flip buddhist? He twirls them blades around pretty well.

My son is doing a blacksmithing camp in a few weeks with Lyle Winn, a Season 3 finalist.

OMG!!! I love this show!!!
I'm layed up with a sprained? foot. I can binge watch. |

Love it and i know fuck all about metalworking. Every dinner I now 'entertain' my wife with "It can keel" banter about the dinner knives I always wondered why the show isnt mentioned here that often View Quote I probably have more in knives than I do in guns. I loved the karambit episode. What happened to the guy that had to go to the hospital? |

I think I have a new favorite blade - the penabus.
It will keel! |

I like watching it up until the point where the dude goes all faggy mall ninja style with his testing at the end. Fuckin drama queen. View Quote If I'm going to get my jimmies rustled it's going to be asking the contestants if their ready. I'm grasping though, I love this show! Oooooooo water vs oil argument!!! |

If it didn't have drama almost NO ONE would watch, sad but true. Todays audience gets bored quickly, showing the real work, knowledge and effort that goes into constructing things would have them changing the channel. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Decent show, compared to everything else on the channel, but the most important part, the temper, isn't done by the contestants. You can't really tell who the best knife maker is when the temper is done by someone else. View Quote Tempering is done at much lower temp (I use a toaster oven) and it is just a matter of temperature and time for the steel you are using. It's hard to mess up, just time consuming. |

Just started watching it the other night on the History channel app. I'm on the season 1 episode where the final challenge is a Crusader sword. Perfect timing, since it's Ramadan, and the fucker's next door are making noise all night.

loving it, want to make a metal working shop and forge when I get a bigger house/property That Doug guy can be a bit creepy sometimes though, like he wants to go around killing people on the street with blades View Quote Karambit Blade Work With Doug Marcaida |

I just bought a KMG Grinder from one of Jason's friends. Fella was on season 2 Cutlass episode. I need to rewatch it.

Love it. Jason Knight lives not far from me, has a huge rep around here. View Quote I had a chance to buy some of Jason's earliest work, when he was just starting out, and didn't. It's good to see him doing well, they deserve every bit of it. |

I love knives and swords,so I enjoy watching the show, I know nothing about what goes into it but I can appreciate good work.

I like it. I hope to be on it next season. They called me about this season, but didn't feel I had enough experience forging yet for the groups they were trying to fill, as they do try to balance the skill level of each group. Lots of misinformation in this thread about heat treating View Quote |

Hadn't seen it until recently. I found it interesting as I had little knowledge about the craft. It's been informative.

I do enjoy the show. Ole Whiskey Whiskey cracks me up sometimes.

I like the show, but the Doug guys needs to tone it down a bit. He gets way to excited and the whole "eet will keellll" thing gets annoying.
