It's Independence Day.
I would like to take a moment and tell all of you how proud it makes me to be a part of this great experiment we call Democracy, and this greater cause we call the United States of America.
Take a moment, if you would, to think about those men in Independence Hall over 200 years ago. Bankers, Lawyers, men of high class and stature in the society during the period. Rich men. Men who had everything in the world going for them. Men for whom nothing stood in their way.
Nothing but the closed gates of Freedom.
Freedom from Tyranny, and Oppression. Rights of free speech, ownership of firearms, and the right to the ballot box.
Those men who were willing to give up their lives of luxury and wealth, for the greater good of their countrymen. Those men who gave up everything for something greater than most can comprehend.
It is to those men whom we all owe an eternal debt of gratitude. Those few, brave men who stood up for principal, and good, and vanquished monarch rule from this country.
So if you would, take a moment. Think about what it must've been like to risk EVERYTHING you have for something you have never experienced.
And, if it is at all possible, take someone young and tell them what this day is truly about.
Your Brother in Freedom,
-UHLEK-
