Stupid RNC calls and asks for my wife, I ask what for, and they say it is a survey about GW job approval rating. Needless to say they would not talk to me. So the wife gets on the phone, and they have hear listen to a taped message from Tom Delay, than start asking for money to help purchase ads against the dems. My wife tells them we don't have the money, they start in saying crap like "you're a republican aren't you?" She replies yes, but we are currently unemployed. Well could you give a smaller amount? No you friggin idiot, we don't have any money for you! Only question they asked about his job performance was "Is George W Bush doing a better job than Bill Clinton?" Needless to say, the wife would not give me the phone. BTW, I AM NOT VOTING FOR BUSH IN 04

Sorry I didn't mean to be cryptic.... I voted for GW because the other alternative was algore, NOT because he was the best/right man for the job. More and more it becomes aparent that we have been hoodwinked by the bush administration. At least the conservatives and the congress would not go along with algore. I am beginning to think that we WOULD be better off with algore.

But see, it seems like most people I know voted the same way. I truly am sick of the liberal progression of the country, and of those that pretend to be like us, yet at best allow status quo to remain. Bush has almost gone out of his way to crap on those that put him in office. Gun Owners Christians Conservatives and so much more....

I was happily employed during both klinton administrations. Ever since bushy took over, the best I can do is change out of the water fountains and digging aluminum cans from the garbage. If things get any worse I might have to start scavenging for cardboard and newspapers.

I don't believe that one man in the Oval office has near as much pull over the economy as some of you think he does. It normally takes a President 2-3 years to get changes in place sweeping enough to change anything. The economy of the USA is a supertanker, you simply do not change it's course overnight when a new man occupies a new office.

So was I and I had $100's of thousands in stock and 401k's. Guess what? It was all an illusion. It was pure speculation based on greed and lies and deceipt. The great "Clinton economy" was a total sham. I don't blame this entirely on Clinton nor do I hold Bush accountable for the shitty state of the current economy, but the rot and lies grew rampantly during the Clinton years and we're reaping what was sown today. If you're in a high tech field, and you're honest with yourself, you'll admit you at least had a suspicion it was a sham all along. People were pouring money into .com startups that had NO BUSINESS PLAN what-so-ever. Everybody was gonna make a million on the internet. Every-damn-one was gonna make a million, so people poured money into these companies that never EARNED a DIME. The CEO's of these startups burned the cash taking their cronies to strip bars and fine restaruants, because tommorow another truck load of cash from investors would roll in. LEts not worry about making a profit we can cook up the books and keep the investment rolling in. Yes, Bush sux and I hate what is happening to our freedoms under his administration, but please don't tell me how great the Clinton bullshit economy was. I have no idea how I'll vote next election but I can't stand what is happening in the name of security under the Bush watch.

Elections are a chance to choose your future. If you are intelligent enough to know the histories of the parties, and the candidates running, you'll be able to make a choice. Voting third party is the same as not voting. You are not choosing, you're avoiding. "Lesser of Two Evils" is an unfortunate fact of life. But it IS a fact.
Link Posted: 7/1/2003 5:33:06 AM EDT
You have to at least vote republican to stop the democrats. The time you have a choice is in the PRIMARIES. That is why we have them. In 2008 we might be able to make a pro-gun candidate a reality. If Bush loses this election, you can sure bet there will be no decent candidate in 2008 since they will need one who can steal votes from the incumbent democrat, which means not pro-gun. The best thing about the current situation is that Cheney will not run for president, so we will end up with several republicans vs. several democrats in 2008 if Bush wins this election. That would be the best chance to put in a pro-gun candidate in recent time.

Every time we get one of these "I'm sick of voting for the lesser of two evils" rants, I am amazed. What else would you expect? Unless you are personally running for President, anyone you vote for will not be 100% what you want. You always have to vote for the one that is most like what you want, i.e., the lesser of two evils. Sometimes, the better of the two is still a lot short of what I would like to see running. But to just let an idiot like Algore into office is silly. You will only hurt yourself. Better the lesser of two evils than the greater of the two. And like Cincinnatus said, voting third party is just wasting your vote.
Link Posted: 7/1/2003 5:50:02 AM EDT

When the RNC called here asking for money, I asked what Bushs stance is on the Brady-AWB, and she didn't know. I asked her to find out and call back, no call yet! Now just a bunch of junk mail.

What's the difference rik?? There aren't any. The repubs go where the dems go, only slower. They camoflage their agenda with pretty words, then expand govt, and increase debt. Looks like a sheep is getting off the bus. Millions of us will. You enjoy YOUR demo president rik. Me, I prefer an enemy who will put the knife in my chest, rather than in the back!!

I voted for Perot, so I can tell you that it is very important to analyze the impact your vote has. The strongest impact of my (along with many, many others) Republican protest vote, was to magnify the Democratic vote. Another more recent example is on the other side. If Nader didn't run in 2000, we'd have had President Gore.

You got the AWB under clinton, and Bush will sign to reauthorize. Big difference!! [rolleyes] The "lessor of two evils", is STILL Evil. Why do you cowards insist on passing the fight for freedom to our grandchildren???

In other words, YES, he's going to be happy living with a Democrat president.... As for clear consciences, mine is quite clear, thank you. Sure, GWB hasn't done some things I'd like him to do, and has done some things I don't approve of, but he's still a far sight better than ANY Democrat candidate currently running for office. As for a third party, the more I hear about the Libertarian Party, the less I agree with it. Yep, my conscience is clean as a whistle....

The repubs are better in opposition. When we had clinton, the repubs were fighting. Bush can ram through socialist agenda, without a fight. Witness the education bill, and "Patriot act". Perhaps, you can tell me the difference between the two?? Is Bush making smaller govt?? Is Bush negating clinton excutive orders? Has Bush pulled any troops home from Bosnia? Has Bush reduced Federal encrochment in the states?? Other than war strategy, what has bush done, gore wouldn't do?

What's amusing is all of these pissy little "Klinton was better, because I was employed" morons. If it weren't for Klinton's allowance for massive investor fraud, maybe we wouldn't have an economy as bad as we have it now. In case any of you conveniently forgot, the stock market and stock prices were plummeting prior to GWB taking office. GWB also had to deal with 9/11, which was a by product of Klinton's inability (refusal) to do anything to wipe out the muslim threat. (Specifically Bin Laden.) GWB has given us our freedom from fear back. After 9/11, we needed to wipe out terrorism and the muslim nations that support it. Would you have gotten the response from Klinton or Gore that you're getting from Bush? NOPE! How about that economy? Seems like investor confidence is coming back. That confidence is also based on REAL STOCK, not some overinflated BS tech stock with no company! Its amazing how fucked we were from 8 years of a crook in office and now you're bitching about the recovery under another president. Did you think that maybe for a second that things weren't as easy as just getting a republican president in office to get the economy and world back in order? Jeez, maybe it'll actually take TIME to regain what we lost from the post Klinton effects.

Well, WWJD? Probably not even vote at all. Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world; if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight..." John 18:36 Jesus made it clear that He was interested in more important matters than earthly governments. He was here to eternally save souls. It is interesting that even though He was here during one of the reigns of the most oppressive governments of all time, Roman rule, He did not even talk about revolt, except as noted above. His only other advise was, "Give unto Caesar...", or pay your taxes. Most importantly though, "but give unto God the things that are God's". One thing is for sure, He wouldn't vote for the Constitutional Party Presidential Candidate. Why? For the same reason you won't. There isn't one.
You and others KNOW the repubs are going the same place as the dems, yet you continue to vote for them. Why?? Do you think they will miraculously change their direction?? I do indeed know that I will answer for how I voted, along with every other thing I do. Including my posts on this site. That's why I couldn't vote for a candidate who's party supports abortion, homos in the military, etc. I vote for the "best available" candidate. If Charles Spurgeon returns and runs, I will vote for him. Until then, I vote for the best available man.
Whatcha gonna say, when he asks why you didn't vote for a GOOD man/party?? "Oh gee, I didn't wanna see a revolution, I'm too comfortable, so I vote the "lessor of two evils"...

Somehow, I don't think this will be His most important question. He may be more concerned about how well I witnessed to the lost than to what kind of government was in power. I hope to hear something more in the line of, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."
Some wonder why I maintain the Christian church is all but dead in this country. Here's why!! They compromise with evil, and they ARE paying for that!!

I actually agree with you on this one, mostly. I think Christians who vote for a candidate that supports murdering babies, when there is a candidate available that opposes it, will be held accountable. In short, I believe that we have a Christian duty to support candidates that stand for Christian principles instead of godless atheists and democrats. But this is not the most important issue that we face on a day-to-day basis. And Jesus isn't nearly as interested in whether GW increased or decreased the size of the Homeland Defence Department as He is in the saving of lost souls.

It doesn't? I think it makes pefect sense. A vote bases on one's conscience is never a wasted vote. Why vote for someone you don't want to be president? This is the compromise that gets us no where. If you want to effect political change, you can't keep compromising your morals and voting for the lesser of two evils. Take a stand.

[bs] I'm far more afraid of my government now than I was before 9/11. 9/11 is used carte blanche to walk on the constitution and no one has pushed back one iota. The Department of Homeland Security is directly aimed at you and me and will impact us a hell of a lot more than it will any terrorists.
