Made the purchase today. Can't wait to try my hand with this sweet little machine. It's supposed to be one-hole accurate at 50ft with ten shots. Too bad I'm not [;)]. Anyone have any experince with this model? Any tips? (Also posted in GFD.)

Mine has a 7.5" barrel and I mounted an old Holosight on it just to see what would happen. I find it too heavy to hold up for any length of time..so off that goes! The grip is a Herret grip for lefties. edited to add: Quite picky on ammo. I (or rather the pistol) settled on CCI Blazers for informal shooting, and Eley Match for (what else) matches, of which I seldom get to do.

You have an excellent pistol. I used to shoot one extensively until I switched over to a Browning Medalist.

I went with the 5.5" model. That's a sharp looking pistol you have there. Your ammo suggestions are duly noted.

Thanks! I plan to improve my breathing and trigger control skills with this pistol.

its best to buy small amounts of diff't brands of ammo and try them all. then buy the bricks of the one she likes! edited to add: when you mentioned you had the shorter 5.5" barrel, it just occurred to me, I can purchase that from S&W and have the best of both worlds!! there goes the grocery money... I bought one awhile back from a guy at work. It belonged to his father who had passed...it's an older model 41 and had 3 mag's and the 7.8in. barrel in original pristine card board box. Yes it's a shooter and will spoil you shooting ANYTHING else. I gave him $150 bucks for it...[rolleyes]

150 bucks??? And I've been called a theif!! Hell, yeah, it is one hell of a gun with a fantastic trigger. I put 13,000 rounds through mine during one school year at the U of Idaho. Slowfire, bullseye style. 2 hours a day, 3 days a week. I had a key to the indoor range. Get that kind of practice in and you can sell your rifles. Playing around with the gravel pit boys, I was accused of having an unfair advantage. Smaller gun = faster to pick up targets, iron sights = you did not have to look through to pick up targets... Too bad I lost that touch.

Nice pistol, luger355. I'd like to get good with the irons before I go for optics.

MSRP has risen to $996 for the 2003 Model 41. I also paid more than $150 for mine [;)]..........more like $710.
