Does anyone know what can be done to slow down or stop the amount of water that passes through brick siding.  When the rain starts to blow in sideways or puddles up too bad, I end up with water inside some of the units.

There are silicone-based sealers that will keep water from saturating masonry materials.

The exact brand slips me right now...

Edited to add link.

There are a bunch of brick sealers on the market.  Check this sitehttp://www.askbuild.com/cgi-bin/column?434

Or do a Google seach on "brick sealer"
