Trying to eat the right things.  Was eating Grape Nuts, but discovered they were loaded with carbs.  Have now switched over to Oatmeal and bran flakes.  What else is out there, that is good for you?  Thanks.

Go with Cinniman Toast Crunch. 1 out of 10 diabetics prefer it.

cracklin oat bran keeps you regular, and has lots of good, unsaturated fat.  not to mention that it's tasty as hell.

Or, granola with plain yogurt and honey on it.

I usually eat that Clusters cereal.  Flakes with little clusters of nuts and stuff dipped in honey.  mm mm good.

If 4 out of 5 people suffer from diahrrea, does the 5th enjoy it?

I like "WHEATIES" the breakfast of champions!
RAISIN BRAN is another good cereal to start the
day.

LIFE cereal is good too, Mikey likes it.

Cap'n Crunch.

I don't eat the cereal, but I save the boxes to make trophies out of.

When a tug coming up alongside us smacks us, I give the skipper of the tug a trophy.

I gave one out a while ago and the pissed off tug captain threatened me with the offer of a Pop. And not a sugar pop, either.

Good luck! Most are high in sugars and carbs. The rest you have to add sugar to, to make palatable.

The one with the highest protein to carb count ratio is Special-K...even then it is 2 to 1 carbs to protein.

Cereal just sucks for low carb diets.

Go with either cottage cheese and fruit or that Go-Lean brand cereal.  that stuff is lo-carb/high soy protein.  Some of their cereals taste ok, others taste like turds.

-Nuke

Edited to add:

8g of protein, 28g of protein 7 of which is sugars.   Still pretty crappy.

Like I say, go w/ cottage cheese.  Or do a protein shake, thats generally what i have for breakfast.

I just went in to see what the cereal i have in my cupboard is...

Back to Nature Hi-Lo

Each serving provides:
~14 grams of soy protein
~1 gram of sugar
~12 grams of complex carbohydrates
~5 grams of dietary fiber (20% of RDI)
~Has delicious lightly sweet taste and crunchy texture
~Contains soy isoflavones and natural antioxidants derived from rosemary extract and vitamin E

http://www.organicmilling.com/miva/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=OM&Product_Code=01355

btw, tastes like shit. Delicious lightly sweet shit apparently, but shit nonetheless.

Went to Wal-mart today and was cruising thru the cereal isle.  Picked up a big box of generic oatmeal.  About half the price of the box that was next to it that had a pic of the dude with the hat (name brand oatmeal).....ingredients were the same.  Had some for lunch with a little honey on it, didn't taste too bad at all.  Haven't had oatmeal in a long time.  We old guys (38) really have to watch what we eat anymore.  Thanks a lot.

Been eating Post's Blueberry Morning and Kellogg's Honey Crunch Corn Flakes.

The bad thing is that the boxes seem to stay the same size, but the contents has actually shrunk on a lot of cereals.  They're very over-priced.  I finally got Blueberry Morning on sale the other day @$2.50/box.  Doesn't happen very often.

Cracklin Oat Bran and Lucky Charms are good.  Plenty healthy too.

But don't forget Fruity Pebbles.  They have that slight window cleaner/urinal mint twist.  Addictive.

Mmmm, Mud and Bugs.

A quote from an usenet post:

"...As I poured the cereal into my bowl I noticed that the marshmallows, which are supposed to resemble bugs, resemble nothing more than misshapen Lucky Charms marshmallows. Only a child with an overactive imagination, or a mescaline tripper on a particularly bad trip, could picture these as bugs.  I swear, the pink ones are exactly the same as Lucky Charms' balloons.  Tasting a few, I realized that they taste exactly the same, as well...but how much margin for difference is there in cereal marshmallows, anyway?  So please note that the "Bugs" part of this cereal is a disappointment.

Jumping to the "Mud" part of the name, it should be noted that the chocolate puffs never darkened the milk to any shade darker than Michael Jackson's skin.  So much for "Mud".

The puffs of cocoa taste exactly the same as Cocoa Puffs: a moderate, but slightly chemical, chocolate flavor.  Not disagreeable.  After finishing the cereal I was left with a nicely flavored chocolate milk. All in all, I enjoyed the taste of the cereal and will certainly finish the box.  However, since "Mud & Bugs" is nothing more than Cocoa Puffs mixed with Lucky Charms' marshmallows, should I ever wish to repeat the taste experience I will probably buy boxes of each of those cereals, saving myself money in the long run.

Nutritionally, the cereal is nearly bereft of value.  It is almost completely sugar, with corn meal coming in second on the ingredient list, and oat flour coming in a distant third. It has, at most, 25% of any vitamin's RDA, and zero calcium.  With less than one gram of dietary fiber it is not something that is going to help my insides perform at their best.

It is, in short, candy."
