My Uncle Bob,
Passed away this morning from Cancer of the Esophagus. He was 62. He was an 82nd Airborne Vet. When I was growing up there didn't seem like a thing he couldn't do. He liked to hunt, fish, shoot rapids in a canoe, go skiing. He was a bricklayer by trade and did some stone masonry. And he loved to play with my brothers and sisters when we were kids.
One time we made a parachute out of a large black plastic trash bag, tied a bunch of yarn to it, and then tied in a Cat on the other end, and parachuted the cat off of a 3 story house.

The cat landed safely, but was pissed and tore off, we didn't see the cat for a week. It still had a couple pieces of yarn tied to it.

(Note..make sure you cut a small hole in the "chute" for air to pass through...)

Towards the end of his life, he had a spiritual awakening, and made his peace with God.

Bob lived his entire life, having fun. Probably having some fun up in Heaven right about now.

I miss you Bob, but I will see you again.

My condolences. It sounds like he was a great guy, and he obviously made a big impression on your life for you to have cared enough to post it here. Let's hope that we can each do as well.

Yeap I had one like that as well, damm the places we went and the things that we did
will always bring a smile to my face and when I think about him a tear to my eye.
Just like my Uncle Charlie he will always be
with you when ever you do something that you
both did.
And if you ever become a dad or an uncle
pass along the fun and memories to those kids.

So "Sorry" for your loss.

I am sorry for your loss.  I lost my 18 year old brother last year, it was the hardest thing I have ever dealt with.  You are very lucky to have such a great uncle, he is obvisouly a great humann being and a great American.  Be strong and be proud.

Your story makes me realize how old our Viet Nam era Vets and myself are getting.  I still visualize the Vets through the eyes of a pre-teen kid. I would have loved to have an Uncle like yours. Prayers to you and your family.
