Of course that story is false!!!
The TRUE story is that their were no attendants. She was harnessed to the underside of the horse and the horse lost its footing, slipped and crushed her as she breathlessly cried out the Russian equivalent of: "Yes! Yes! Give it to me Mr. Ed, you big stud you!" |

Yes it is true.
It was in my history book from the 70's and 80's. Thank God I learned the real history of the world. Now that history has been re-written for the pc generation of the 90's and the new millennium, you will find many numerous and missing facts. Just take a look at Pearl Harbor as an example. Its our fault the Japs attacked us. |

"Liberal" is a misnomer because they desire the most restrictions on constitutional rights, freedom of speech and freedom of thought, and the most government interference in the lives of citizens. The term, "leftist" is a more accurate. |

I have found thestraightdope to be nothing like snopes.
Snopes will say "unknown." TSD however will offer opinion as fact when no facts are certain. I'd rather be told "nobody knows for sure." |

I remember watching a documentory about Catherine the Great late last year where they discussed this. The documentory said she actually died on a toilet and it was a while before anyone noticed she was missing and went looking for her. They claimed the story about the horse was made up and came from Poland out of anger against the Russian control of Poland at the time.
