In my case, I'm 28. I live on my own, have a good job, support myself, pay all my bills, all that good shit. So, when is a girl too young for me to date? I mean obviously under 18 is no good for legal reasons. But if you were in my shoes, what would be your "hard deck" (to use Top Gun terms)? On a side note, is it contributing to the deliquency of a minor to give someone under 21 alcohol if they're over 18? Obviously they could get in a dui wreck and the victims, and hell her parents, could probably sue me, but otherwise what's the story?

Norman I thought you were 74. Actually, for you 18-30 would be the range.

In Kansas, the legal age is 16...but you'd probably be called "The Creepy Guy"

Yes, I thought you were a cankaterous old coot (in reference to your thread about Citabria). Originally, I was going to say 18-34, but I thought you would reject the notion to dating a woman in her thirties. If you want to date older women, then fine. There are some very attractive ones out there.

hmmm...if i cross the reeever into west virginia, i think thy'll let me hook up with 14-year olds...as long as they're my cousins.

Hummmm...... I think you are asking two questions here. One 'may' answer the other. You ask "When is a girl too young?" Taking it at face value, you are asking about their age. A deeper question maybe their "maturity level". You can have a 25 year old that acts like she is 13 while on the other hand, a 18 year old that has the maturity level of a 30 year old. Yes, an extream question.... but still.... I think you are asking about "maturity level" personally..... For that, you won't know till you "date"/"get to know" the woman. And you should refer to them an women.... (Let the flaming begin... [:p] )
Link Posted: 6/19/2003 2:36:45 PM EDT
A myth is that with age comes maturity. I met some very nice mature 18 yo women, and some very foolish 35 yo women. I like the younger women because they are still emotionally "soft" and idealistic. You don't want a cynical, seen-it-all, done-it-all woman (unless she has kept herself from being hard).

When they tell you theyre 'seniors', make sure theyre not talking about junior high school [;)]. IIRC, one needs to be 17 to hook up with a guy your age. 18 is for porn.

You're right clean_cut. But when you see a single, attractive woman that is past 26 years old... sometimes they've experianced "bad" things (ie emotional stress, bad relationship, so on). I beleive I know a few. On the other hand, it happens to guys too. The "dating game" (and the word game really shouldn't be used) is harsh on some people. I think we have all been there, seen this and that.... Heck, look at my current sig line: "I believe in love. I believe in cancer... They are both diseases that need a cure." I suppose you know where my opinion is with the relationship thing is at. My friends tell me not to be so "cold".... it's hard not to want to close up.

I'm 29 now. I liked dating slightly older women. Seems women 30+ will tell you exactly what they want, especially moms. Makes for easier living and great sex. No games. Then I met an 18 year old that was more mature and goal oriented than any girl I've ever dated. Our first date was at the shooting range with a Desert Eagle. That was over three years ago. Now we're married, she's an RN at 21 which is the youngestI've ever seen, and our future is bright. What I'm trying to say is you never know. Just date all kinds of women till you hit it off.

I figured yu could get any girl you wanted and then I went back and reread the post and it said "hard deck is 18". I need to get new glasses.

If I were to ever get divorced and back into the dating scene, my lowest would be 18, and the higest would be 18. Nothing like corrupting a young girl!!! {But if someone ever tries that with MY daughter, I'll kill 'em!!}

Well, I'm seeing a 19 year old right now, among others, which is what prompted this thread. She seems cool so far, not too into the little kid shit, wants to be a cop and is going to college to get a degree before she does so. I just thought I'd see what the concensus was. There's also an 18 year old that just graduated HS that wants to go for a ride on the Harley, and I'm not quite sure how to handle that one. Seems like it might be pushing it age wise, but I guess one ride won't hurt anything (famous last words right?) The reason I asked about the alcohol thing is that I'll often have a been or a glass of wine when I'm at home in the evenings, and I'll usually offer guests one if they're there. I offered her a glass of wine the other night which she declined, but after the fact I got a little worried about the legal implications. I guess if nothing else I should only let her drink if she's not going to be living here. Biggest downside to both these girls is that they both still live at home. I haven't dated anyone that lived with their parents since I was 17, so this is a little odd. Needless to say I am actively encouraging the move out, haha. I am also ducking and weaving the "we're having a BBQ this weekend, why don't you come over?" I can just see pulling up on the bike being 10 years older withe tats. The 'rents will shoot me on sight, and I wouldn't blame them.

In quality terms I like this formula: Your age - 18 = the lower specification limit. 40 - your age as an upper specification limit. 28 - 18 = 10 40 - 28 = 12 A person your age would date + 12 - 10. At 36 it is + 4 - 18. At 40 it is + 0 - 22.

I like the "half your age plus seven" and "twice your age minus seven" as my limit regulators.

In Hawaii legal age of consent I believe is still 14. Seriously. For you though I would stick with the 21 and up crowd.

I like young women I prefer 18-26, the same reason why the military wants young recruits, because they are young and healthy, strong, easier to influence, adapt easier, not set in their ways like older women. Once a woman gets over 30 her marriage prospects really go down. plus younger women have the nicest figures! slender firm bodies [kiss]

I've been told the proper "gentleman's formula" is: (your age / 2) + 7 (28/2)+7 = 14+7 = 21

It was just an age that I pulled out of the air. I wasn't implying that women are out there 'just' looking to get married and have the 'happily ever after' thing. There are lots of men and women that are perfectly happy with out anyone in their life.

That is only the U.S. formula. For every time zone you travel east of the Prime Meridian you can subtract an additional year from the outcome of said formula. For example, in the Ukraine, Romania or Bulgaria (time zone +3C) it would be: (age/2) + 7 - 3 or (age/2) + 4. This is based on empirical data collected from 1998-2000 in Europe (Spain to Georgia). An Asian expert will have to develop a new formula for that side of the globe.

I dated a 21-year-old woman who lived with her parents (she was going to college in town) when I was twenty-nine and in graduate school. She was a great, fun person and her parents were nice. However, when she started asking about an engagement ring while I was still in school, it started going downhill. It definitely went sour when I suggested that we wait until after I graduated and actually had a job and money. I think she mainly wanted to escape from her mother - not the best reason for getting married. Norman74, I'd suggest an age range of 21+, so you don't have to worry about irate fathers with shotguns or whether she can legally drink alcohol. Of course, this assumes the woman in question has her shit together emotionally and mentally - life's too short to waste time with psychos. Talking about psychos, I found this thread: So I'm seeing a bi-polar stripper...

If thinking that validates your beliefs - go for it. However more often than not, they are women who do not define themselves by a man and do not require the "institution" of marriage to find life fulfilling. TT [wave]

I'm 32 now and would never date a girl younger than 25. Back when I was 30 I was seeing a girl who was 21 and there was no conversation. She was still in college but think about it, every time I thought of things like "what were you doing when the space shuttle blew up" he answer was "I was only 2" or something to that respect. I couldn't talk about anything that happened 10 years ago because she would only have been 10. You don't want to date them too young because they are full of nothing but head games or just the opposite, they may think you are their "out" and won't leave you alone ever (Fatal Attraction). Think of what you have(posessions) and where you are(job apartmeny, house). Do you want some yound STUPID kid taking it all away from you becasue they are too young to understand their actions when they yell RAPE because one night they realy weren't in the mood, or tell the police you hit her because she thinks it would be funny. On the other side of the coin. Why would there be a perfectly good single woman at the age of 28 --- what's wrong with her? Of corse the women are thinking the same about you --- What's wrong with you? Why aren't you married now? BISHOP

25+ would be my suggestion! Unless you find one that likes the shooting sports![:D] BigDozer66
