$80 HVLP gun at Pepboys. $300 6HP 30 Gal Craftsman compressor at Sears. $60 DA sander Sears. $60 inline sander Pepboys. $135 1 Gal Crossfire Acrylic Enamel paint at NAPA. $35 1 Gal primer at NAPA. The good thing about doing it yourself is if you dont like it its nobodys fault but me. I can fix it or change it. If I were to spend $700 on it at a shop and then dont like it, I would be outta luck. Going to get the LINE-X spray in BedLiner FRI afternoon. $450 over the rail. Wooo Hoo!!

My grandfather is hooking me up a with a nice compressor, and I'm going to snag a cheap gun, NAPA paint, a DA sander etc and do the same thing to both my Camaro and my dad's beater. Where did you paint yours, just in the open air or what? I'm planning to paint in the garage with fans out the windows for ventilation, with plastic up everywhere and on the ground...

Nice looking paint. Did You shoot it at Your place or In a booth? If it was Your place, What did Your neighbors think of the smell & mess? I'm looking for some place to paint My 1966 Coronet, but the place I used last time went out of business. Tall Shadow

I did it in the garage. I put plastic on the walls. Be carfull with fans and the water heater pilot light. They can cause a fire. You have a misting flamable substance in the air. The advantage of the HVLP gun is there is very little over spray. The neighbors did not have a problem that I know of. I didnt use any clear coat. Maybe I should. I should have taken the hood off to paint it. Any flat surface WILL collect dust. I can always take it off later and reshoot it.

I removed ALL the trim and had to weld the holes.

the moldings do look good when the truck is new but after years they look junky. anyways aint it a bitch filling all those holes? I noticed on my 69 that there were little dips along the truck from the moldings :( whats the going price for a 67-72 shortbed 4x4 in your area?

Wow. Very sharp looking pickup. Nice job.

Looks good. I wouldn't go with a clearcoat unless it was using deltron or some other two stage system. It'll just flake off otherwise.

nice job on the truck. do you live in military housing?

Outstanding job! I always loved that 67-72 body style. We had a 68 short wide bed that I've been kicking myself for ever selling. Bitchin ride.
