bigbear, the fx5200 would be the ticket for PCI, the top ATI pci card is the radeon 9000, but it does not support directX 9 like the fx5200 does, the speeds are probly similar in gaming though, and price is same, so go with the 5200! either way, the FX5200 and the Radeon 9000 PCI blow the mx440 out of the water!

PCI bus sucks. Your not going to get more performance out of a Geforce 4 MX440 as you will out of a Geforce 2 MX 400. Memory is slow as shit, so theres your bottle-neck. Take only a card with DDR memory. But then PCI becomes the bottle-neck.

Im using an Asylum GF4 MX 440-SE 64MB DDR Core Clock 250MHz memory clock 333mhz DDR memory RAMDAC dual 350mhz 1.0billion texels/sec 31 million triangles/sec 5.3GB/sec mem bandwidth dont know how much that would differ from other GF4 cards. It runs games fine. I just need a faster 'puter with more RAM!! I wish Laptops had better graphic cards. Found a website last week that had a PCI card Bus expansion that would accept PCI desktop cards. Dont know if it would work with graphic cards though. Might just have been for networking junk, but if it could hook into the PC, i dont see why you could'nt just disable the onboard graphics card (after installing the new drivers for PCI GC) and enable a GF4 or whatever.
