I got real bored at work this weekend and was on Ebay and looked at their "Motors" section.

My dream car has always been a Porsche 928.  I know it is not (by far) the fastest car or best handling car they make, but it has always appealed to me (second choice is the 930).

The cars were going for $3k to $10k on average, depending on the year, body condition, etc.  I always figured a $70k car was well out of my price range, but at sub $10k, it is eventually do-able.

To keep a Porsche running as an occasional, go out to the restaurant in style car, what kind of $$ are you looking at for basic maintenance?  Can a good import specialist do it, or do you need a Porsche specialist?  What about basic body work?

How hard to get parts (lots of the cars mentioned that the power seat switches were bad, for example)?  Body parts (some of the cheaper cars had some bumper/fender dings)?

What does a real paint job cost on one (assuming fender replacement, say)?  Obviously, if you have a nice car, it is not worth doing the Earl Scheib $99 special.

Any known quirks (or absolutely required maintenance--like a timing belt) to the 928s?

Thanks!!
