Microsoft doesn't send out any unsolicited e-mails at all.
You may receive Hotmail or MSN ads, but that's it. They never ask you to install anything.

I've noticed that if I send something via MS Outlook with an attachment it'll pop the virus checker into overdrive.

Uhhh for some of the more dense people.[rolleyes]

I put in red and typed in bold that it was from Microsoft.

I get the virus warning daily.

it's not really from microsoft

unless, of course, you sent them an e-mail titled "My application" and requested them to send you an e-mail containing only executable data which happens to match perfectly with a virus going around lately which tries to pretend it's from microsoft.

but I think that's pretty farfetched, so I'll just assume it wasn't really from microsoft.

Ever since I removed my e-mail address from my profile, the virus alerts have gradually disappeared. It's trolls getting your e-mail addy from the site, and spoofing another addy to send you the virus. I used to also have problems with my addy being spoofed for everything from sending viruses to sending porn or porn links. Hasn't happened in a couple of months now.

Linux has its own share of viruses. so quit telling people that. the trick is the less people that use linux the less viruses that will be made for it. the virus writers like to see how much havok they can cause. once linux gets a wide enough spread and big enough userbase it will become a virus target. windows is the target now. but only because its so heavily used.

Never has a virus breached into my systems. Always has antivirus been running.

[cartman]Hey! I'm not dense, I'm big-boned![/cartman]

Anyway, I removed my addy about the same time the board hid them. Note that there is no little e-mail button on my profile....

So There![8D]
