California has the most stringent gun control in the NATION! Wonder if he's using a .50. Hey...I wonder if he meant for the people to see his gun... [rolleyes] |

Let's cut the poor bastard some slack.
Who among us hasn't fought the urge to go "Billy Jack" in the Post Office when they're out of LOVE stamps? |

this is total bs. Must've been one of those AR sniper rifles with the light trigger so you can spray fire it with only 2 hands...

I saw the scrolling headlines on FNC. They said the Sherrifs dept has taken up positions in the parking lot with "Assault Weapons!"

Hey RBAD, isn't "Armed gunman" a redundant statement"? Shouldn't it be just "Gunman" or "Armed man"?

WEll, hope nobody gets their asses shot... What kinda gun was he using? If it was an AR, AK, or HK, I'm a gonna march down there and beat him over the head with a 2X4...

The news reported someone thought it was an Assault Weapon, but imagine if someone has a gun and you don't know anything about guns, it always a Assault Weapon.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! NOT AN AR.. I am jumping for joy. And who said it? This always comes about RIGHT as a new gun ban is being considered... A conspiracy?
|
|
blackjack beginning to think someone really is instigating this shit for hte ban.... I mean why is it whenever there is a ban coming up there's always a rash string of crimes committed with "assault weapons" I mean it's like triple what you normally see any other year. it's insane.

Where is this place? If it's close by, I vote for organizing a posse and taking those bitches out. This crap is ridiculous.

If it is a semi auto look alike they will say "See we need to strengthen the AW law." If it is a hunting rifle they will say "See, the law is working. He would have had an AW and killed more people."

We aren't getting anything on the Phoenix news right now, they are all covering a barracaded cop shooting suspect at 15th Ave and Broadway.

Now the word is that the guy (Alberto is his name) got in a car accident with a postal vechical and he's pissed that he got hurt and the postal service is screwing him on insurance. They had his friend on the TV and the guy said this not in his behavior that he's a really nice guy and they he just snapped since he got screwed.
So the guns being reported are two long rifles, with one being a shotgun (Yes, I know, that is not a long rifle) and the other maybe a assault rifle. My theory is that he has a hunting rifle and people can't tell the difference. The Postal Office is out in Lakeside, which is on the eastern side of San Diego County. It's out of the city and really out in the country side (IE: The sticks). |

If there's no resemblance to an "assault weapon", this story will never make more than a four-hour national news cycle. After tomorrow it'll disappear - UNLESS an "assault weapon" is involved. |

LAKESIDE, Calif. 5.28.03, 9:58p - A man angry with the Postal Service over a traffic accident stormed into a post office with a gun Wednesday and took two employees hostage for several hours before surrendering, authorities said. The gunman, identified as Alberto de Santiago, released the hostages after officers delivered a six-pack of Dr Pepper to him, using a long stick to pass the soda through a door. Soon afterward, the man, shirtless and wearing long shorts, walked out with his arms raised and surrendered to officers, who led him to a patrol car. No shots were fired and there were no reports of injuries during the siege in this community 25 miles northeast of downtown San Diego. The gunman entered the post office shortly before 3 p.m. and took two male employees hostage, said Chris Saunders, a San Diego County sheriff's spokesman. De Santiago, 39, of Ramona was apparently frustrated by the terms of a settlement he reached with the U.S. Postal Service stemming from a 2001 accident in which he collided with a postal service vehicle on a state highway, Saunders said. San Diego postal inspector Jody Kowahl said the gunman was not a Postal Service employee. Steve Roadinger said he had just mailed some items shortly before 3 p.m. when the gunman arrived and yelled at him to leave. "I glanced over my shoulder and looked down the barrel of his rifle," said Roadinger, 48, of Lakeside, who left immediately. Deputies armed with assault weapons took positions around the single-story building, and authorities blocked off surrounding streets. Local television stations stopped broadcasting live images of the post office at the request of authorities, who were concerned the gunman would be able to monitor their movements. Dozens of children were kept inside a nearby day care center during the standoff until about 6 p.m., when authorities escorted them from the scene. The youngest were wheeled away in cribs. Lakeside is an unincorporated community of 56,225 people. The Associated Press |
