The mininum age to buy a handgun from an FFL is 21 but the mininum to buy from a private seller is 18 but in California all transfers must go through an FFL so I was wondering would I have to be 18 or 21? Would love for someone to clarify this.

21 and the buyer needs a Basic Firearms Safety Certificate.

What if I go over to Neveda and buy one. It's 18 over there with no waiting period and background check and then bring it over to Cali. Will that work? It it doesn't can someone tell me how to legally be 18 and own a handgun in CA? Cause California law says 21 to buy but 18 to possess.

If I'm not mistaken you can buy a handgun in another state being a CA resident. CA only prohibits purchasing of long guns out of state. So long as the handgun is on the approved list per SB15.

I could be wrong though. 95% sure.
