These nasty looking things, and those foldy Keltec 9mm carbines were selling pretty fast at the last gun show I was at. I guess for a lot of people a cheap pistol carbine is a good choice, particularly if they only shoot cans a few times a year. Are these things at all accurate and reliable? I have heard horror stories about the pistols, but not so much the carbines.

[b]PLEASE[/b] don't lump the Kel-Tec carbines in with the Hi-Points!  There is a world of difference in price, design, quality, reliability, etc.

...and I'm not necessarily dumping on the Hi-Point.  The guys at "Gun Tests" actually gave it a decent review.  I've never fired one, but when I was a dealer I had one come through my hands - with a "factory" comp & laser, no less.  The guy who bought it loved it.  But I have extensive experience with the Kel-Tec carbines - both the older, more expensive design and the newer, more affordable design.  These are excellent weapons that can use a variety of full-capacity pistol magazines and get around the AWB folding-stock-prohibition in a very novel way.  My wife and I have thousands of rounds through both models & they work great.

mine is good out to about 100. i can pop 4-6" balloons at 100 yrds with it all day without much effort. The only problem i have evere had was using lead reloads. they don't feed worth a damn. Finally cleaned it at about 700 rnds. never did fail to feed or fire with decent ammo.
