Sir, 1911's do NOT kaboom.

I have, however, seen aluminum frames crack in appear around the slide stop hole.

Back in the early days of IPSC I saw quite a few 1911 kabooms. All of them were due to major power factor loads in the original 38 Super setup, which used an unsupported chamber.

Once the gunsmiths and manufacturers went to supported chambers and ramped barrels, the 38 Super kabooms went away.

Interesting, I was just reading about one of the infamous Glock KB's & wondered (you know, the old 1911 vs. everything else) if the 1911 ever did that. Personally, I'm a complete 1911 fan & don't like Glocks (I don't hate them, they are still guns after all).

I've never heard of a problem other than jams from a 1911 but my experience is a bit limited.

Any particular kind of jam? I know that 1911's are vulnerable to poor shooters (Limp Wristing), but I've never seen, first hand, any others.

the 45ACP is a relatively low pressure round so it is reliable and easy on your 1911.

What he said.  And it's worth noting that 1911s will not float. [;D]
