1.) I've been unemployed for 2 weeks now (just finished working a temp job over Memorial Weekend working at a HUGE cemetery)
2.) I've applied at every single place I wouldn't mind working, and I've been hitting the streets nearly every day to accomplish this. I've had many interviews, not many places hiring. I found one place hiring, and I have an interview setup there for this Thursday Morning. Got laid off back in October, and was unemployed until I took a SH!T food-service job in January. Then they didn't need much summer work, so basically couldn't work there... Now 2 weeks later I'm still searching. [:(] |

1) One whole year come June 7th.
2) Programmer/Analyst for a marketing company. I was the ONLY programmer that knew anything about the internal application I supported. There is no such thing as job security. |
|
Unemployed since April of last year.
Was Tech Support for a really big internet portal that went bust. Unemployemnt benefits recently ended and have been selling my guns to stay afloat. Sucks. BTW, I have not heard ANY replies from any of my resumes I sent out but I did get a contract gig (part time) through a friend who works for a co. It really is who you know here in Silicon Valley now, which will determine if you can get a new job. |

dot-com "Customer Care" Came on at the peak of the bubble and watched the company squander $20 million in VC while we went from 100 to 35 employees, ignored our core product and customers while spending a fortune on Marketing non-existent shit, but shut down QA and pink-slipped engineers and developers. A prototype "Dilbert" shop. Got fed up with the non-stop insanity and lemming-like drive of those in charge to push the company over the cliff. Came in at 0600 Monday, realized that I'd rather be dead than lose anymore of my self-respect working for cretins like I was and walked out by 0700. They pink-slipped the entire Customer Care department a few weeks later and turned tech support over to a few people in Marketing (WTF?!?). Entire company imploded and the assets (and 7 remaining employees) were sold off to another company in 2002. Business had $35k left in the bank at the end and the CEO gave himself a $35k bonus for “closing the company”. Funny how that worked out, isn't it? |

First time from June 30, 2002 til Nov. 01, 2002. Worked full-time from Nov. 01 til May 23, 2003. Today is the first day of my waiting week for unemployment. Worked in the garage insulating and hanging drywall til an hour ago. My wife and I decided that the work needed done whether we stay here or end up putting the house on the market.
The good thing is that I had an email from my next possible employer in Albuquerque while I was in the shower. I will be calling them in about 45 minutes, so please wish me luck. I am a microbiologist. I want to wish each of you the best of luck in your searches. |

June 17th is the day.
I probably won't have a job but there is a snowball's chance in hell that I will on the 18th. So much for state employment being the most secure. Stupid fucking union bullshit. Someone with more senority somehow has the "right" to my job. What really gets me is that the jobber getting my job probably won't have a clue. BTW I'm in desktop support @ MNDOT. |

The last thing i need is a guy like you stealing my (entry level) job. Ben, The(800hrs,TotalTime)Emu PS. You are right about the stupid ragheads, but 20 years of bad management and a ression that started before 9-11-01 didn't help. |

Was a graphic designer, thats what I have my degree in but its one of the bigger fields that are lacking in jobs right now. I'm done with that anyways. I had to drop out from school because they laid me off without warning and I couldnt continue to fund my education.... I was going to get an AA at the local community college for Network Admin, but almost everyone here is in that field..... I'm also thinking about getting my BS in business if I can get money. I'm only 22 so a few months of not working isn't hurting me, I'm living back home and my parents are pretty supportive. I am applying for a Law enforcement position late this summer and if that fails I'll be joining a branch of the military as a reservist, for a. experience in law enforcement b. cash for school c. to be busy It's a terrible time to be 22 |
