What is the so called "elephant gun"? .500NE? Anyone enjoy the gun scene in the original Tremors? Jason

I have no idea what type of gun it was but that movie is a classic. I can't think of anyone on this site who doesn't think so.

its a generic term sorta like "Assualt Weapon"
IRC the smallest cartridge one can use for elephant is .375 H&H mag. Thats an elephant rifle, just as a 600 NE and a 4 bore is. its kinda  a loose term

I know Snorkel, I should have asked: What was the exact rifle used in the original movie hit Tremors, refered to as "the god damn elephant gun". Thanks for the replys.

Now, what does a .600NE run for, $11,500-$25,000? Even with that big ass worm chasing you around, would you still have thrown that rifle around? Here take this, drop: $$,$$$ [:)]

I always wondered if that was actually a real gun or just a prop. It looks like a .50bmg case that doesn't bottelneck.

The only thing I could think of after that scene was, his ears are going to ringing for about 10 years.

Reba still looks great but, alas for poor Burt she left after the first movie. In the second one Burt states that he knows she's gone for good because she asked him to send her the HK91.

More than likely, the gun is chambered for the 700 Nitro Express.

$100 a shot.
