my aunt bought a 2001 and the trans went out at around 25k miles. replaced it and it died again not long after. She traded it in jan for a 2003. Been in the shop twice for trans problems already. A hard jerking on acceleration and slipping into neutral on the interstate. Not sure what they have done to it so far.

My Father has had Four Chrysler Minivans since 1986, two voyagers, a Caravan, and a TC. They were all purchased new. A couple of them had chronic problems with the sliding doors power lock, but otherwise they were all problem free until well over 100K miles. The first one he had was bought about a month before we went to Germany for the last time, he put over a hundred thousand miles on it in the three years that we lived there, then we brought it back home to the states and my mom drove it for two more years, at about 150K miles a wire shorted and caused a small fire under the hood, (Dad was in Saudi during Desert Storm at the time), so mom got it repaired and traded it in on another Voyager just like it, same trim package same color same options. When Dad got back from Saudi he traded his little car in on a TC which he is still driving, and has never had any trouble with it. MY moms second Voyager got traded in in 96 for a Caravan which finally gave up the ghost with a bad motor at 235K miles (they retired to a rural area so they have to drive a good distance to get to town or work. With the Caravan finally giving out (this vehicles maintanence was not poor it was completely neglected, oil changes every 20,000 miles whether it needed it or not), Dad just signed the papper work on a brand new 2003 four cylinder Voyager, AC, Cass, PW, PL, and some other options for less than $13,000. With the sticker on a Kia Minivan starting at more than that my opinion is that there isn't even a serious competitor for an inexpensive minivan. Notice that I have given a brief history of four vehicles that were fo rthe most part not given the greatest service history, but all functioned very well, were always reliable to the very end, and had no Transmission problems of any kind, maybe it was luck but I don't think so. I own two Chrysler products, one has an Automatic Trans it only has eighty thousand miles so it is a bit early to claim anything about its durability, but so far so good, the other has a five speed with 110K miles, and has only had a couple of minor issues (a broken clutch cable and a broken shifter cable), both happened after 100K, I have been happy with this car both vehicles since the day I bought them. There you go, seven vehicles, nearly a million miles and no major issues. Your mileage may vary.

My favorite car in thier current lineup is the 300M, but unless I find work soon, or the LHS bites the dust it will have to wait.
