[b]Students Allegedly Steal Gun From Police[/b]

Cincinnati police are investigating an incident Friday in which two students allegedly stole a gun from the Cincinnati Police student academy held for seventh and eight graders.

WLWT Eyewitness News 5's Elena Echarri reports that two students are accused of taking a .22-caliber revolver when their school, Bramble Academy, took a field trip to the Cincinnati Police Training Academy on April 24. The students reportedly showed the gun to other students on the way home.

The gun was not loaded, but Echarri reports that police are concerned because even though the gun was a training weapon, its firing potential was not disabled as is usually done with training guns.

The principal of Bramble notified the police the day after the field trip because children had written the administrator a letter that said that the two boys, 14 and 15, had been showing the gun off to them on the way home.

Echarri reports that the two boys have been arrested, and suspended from school. They may also be expelled. The police academy is considering whether or not to continue the student field trip program.

Just got to thinking that I should clarify here...

My purpose for posting this story was not to make the Cinncy police or any LE Dept look bad - but to prove the point that if police and military are the only ones who have guns, people still get guns - even kids.

I'd sure like to know how the gun was stored, or whether was it passed around the students.
If they took it from 'secure' storage that's one thing.  But if the academy guide failed to make sure it was accounted for before they left, thier butt oughta be in a sling.

It's a shame these kids risked ruining it for future classes.

Does anyone remember an article from a couple years ago about how LEO's had a higher homicide/suicide rate than the general public.
Watch it LEO's! I can see 20 years in the future wher they will require officers to check in their weapons at the end of shift.
Already the CSP had gone to an open mike system with their employees so that they can monitor them any time they are on duty.
