As a kid, in the 60's....used to go to the afternoon features.
An italian or french film, dubbed, black and white, about vampires called "Black Sunday". Scared the shit out of me....I was like 7 or 8. Anyone heard of it?
I rate horror movies by many different categories:
Overall scariest when I first saw it: "Alien"
Best use of latex: "From Beyond"(one of my faves overall and John Carpenter's "The Thing"
Most gory scene: "Dagon" Spanish, rather new..I may have the name wrong, shows a guy get his face skin pulled up over his face.
Best vampire movie: I know I'll get flamed but: "Bram Stoker's Dracula" by Coppola. CLose to the book. Honorable mention: "Salem's Lot" Wish it was made for the theatre instead of TV.
Combo of gore and camp "Evil Dead" "Re-animator"
Best Werewolf Movie: "America Werewolf in London" "The Howling"
Best Frankenstein movie: "Frankenstein" the original 2nd best "Mary Shelley's Frankenstein" (with deniro)
Best Creature movie: "Alien" Hands down, scariest and best made though John Carpenter's "The Thing" was good
Best Ghost Movie: "Poltergeist" and a tie with "Ghost Story" (John Houseman, Craig Wasson Obscure film)
