or do you just read the first post and reply without giving a damn what anybody else has to say? Like a dumbass, I actually read the whole thing.

It really depends on the thread, how interesting it is, whether the general tone of the conversation is drifting away from the issue that I want to address, etc. I think that more often than not I read the whole thing.

As I am predomininately a lurker,  I read the whole post.

I was just going to post this same topic today, how funny.
What gets me is the way people post completely stock answers without reading the entire thread.  It's one thing if you have an off the wall solution to something, but if someone asks where they can get an Ace stock, and your reposnse is "bushmaster", chances are you should read the whole thread.  This is pretty common knowledge.

This of course excludes the posts that are 10 seconds apart and people were typing at the same time.

Yes. Although some of you gentlemen are a bit longwinded,I scan the long posts, but I do read the whole thread. My posts don't matter though, 'cause I don't have an avatar.

Guilty!! I only read the first post, then I will reply and sometimes read the entire thread.

I, admitedly, have found myself losing out on sleep because I actually take the time to read the entire thread.

That, and if I go to sleep I might miss something funny.

Right, then ... I'll just stand up now and announce my arfaholism.

What is this thread about?

To respond without reading the other posts would be like overhearing one word in someone else's conversation and then jumping in to add your opinions on the subject that you assume that they are talking about based upon the one word that you heard; whether your assumptions are correct or not, you still look like an asshole. Yep, about 99.9% of the time, I read the whole thing, if somebody else hadn't said anything I would say something, or if I had a comment about something someone else said.

It depends on how long it is.  On this one I made it to norman74 before posting.
