Im just wondering where I stand?
poll coming |
Your asking how many guns we own? & the highest number is 16 [lol] Even I have more than 16.
Conventional or nuclear?
...forget I said that. I was never here. [peep] |
the real benchmark is whether you have more than you have teeth. btw, wasn't it Dennis Miller who said that you didn't need more than that? I have all of my wisdom teeth in addition to the normal 28 and they're still outnumbered...[;D]
oh yeah, do stripped recievers count? |
Whoo Hoo! I'm in the BIG leagues. But the truth is I'm just a piker compared to several folks I know.
At one time, an older cousin of mine had over 40 revolvers alone, and I'd say about 150 or so total in his collection. And he used to say his collection was nothing compared a few members of his gun club............ |
Just two. a 10/22 and a .38 special.
Oops, that wasn't my line was it? [:)] |
3 now, but if things don't look up, I'll have to sell the ar and all my mags.

Outdoor Life's humor writer, Patrick McManus, wrote a column about guns. I think it was called "First Gun". Anyway, part of it was the progression of gun purchases, and what your wife says about it...
1st gun purchase--No major problems. She might even tell her friends. "Fred just got a gun for hunting elk and ducks and things." 2nd gun purchase--After explaining to your wife that you have a rifle to hunt elk, but you need a shotgun to hunt ducks, she reluctantly agrees that you need a shotgun. 3rd gun purchase--Your wife brings up your character flaws, the fact that she's been wearing the same clothes she had in high school, the need for electricity and running water, etc. "AND YOU WANT ANOTHER GUN?!" According to McManus, the most important purchase is the fourth gun. After the events at gun #3, you may be tempted to avoid confrontation. That's a mistake, because after #4, she will no longer say you have "3 guns"; rather, she will refer to them as "all those guns." She'll be dusting the gun case, and she'll say "I don't know why he needs all those guns." What she won't notice is that you've added a fifth gun! It really is a pretty funny article, if you can find it. Me? I was way past "all those guns" long ago. |
I'd say that I'm in the 40's range. Don't really know for sure to tell you the truth. A C&R will do that for ya!

7 of them. Combined value is probably about $6-$7k. Im going to sell two of them, and trade the Glock for a USP.
Dont rag on my gun rack, I'm not old enough to buy my own. |
I don't know for sure, but its around 30. I figure i'm way ahead of myself for being a broke college student. Can't wait to start working this summer and adding to my collection.
I figure at least I have something to show for the money I make and spend unlike my buddy who makes about twice what I do a summer, and has basically nothing to show for it and/or blew it all on beer and women. Although, I have spent enough on on those two exact things equal to a new AR or two this year. [stick] It was worth it though. [sex] |

View Quote The story is called "Gunrunning", and is featured on pages 157-162 of Patrick F. McManus'The Grasshopper Trap (Henry Holt and Co., 1985). This should really be required reading for all gun owners and would-be gun owners! 16? Are we deliberately under-reporting? |
damn, I had no idea you guys had so many guns! I should redo this poll to include bigger numbers!

i feel impotent..
iv'e spent lots of money on ammo lately, but my next purchase will be a drill jig and some unfinished AR recivers.. i now have 1 AR, 1 303 British(working near mint), 1 303 british (dads, he died having never reaquired a bolt for it), 2 shotguns (1 is for parts right now, untill i can rebuild it) and 2 pistols (witch i don't posess yet for i have no permit, but i am working on it..) but for ammo i have : 8500+ rds 9mm, 10,500+ rds 5.56, 250 rds 12 ga 000buck, 250 rds slugs, something like 750 rds misc. bird shot, 400 rds 303 british, and i am sure there is a little more in there i don't remember right now. but i definately need more guns.. |

You really need to take the advice of others here and shift your numbers higher. I have a relatively small assortment as arfcom goes, and, off the top of my head, (and I will probably forget a few) - I have:
2 Shotguns 4 pistols 4 military bolt guns 2 military gas-guns 8 civiian gas guns (4 of which are ARs) 1 Civilian bolt gun That is only counting firearms - and I have a lot less than some of these folks - A LOT LESS. If we throw in edged weapons, to include bayonets, swords, etc. the number gets even bigger. Blunt objects you ask? Many of those as well. So you see, you have your work cut out for you, grasshopper. Edited to revise numbers after thinking about it some more. |
I can't get any more until I get another safe, after I figure out where to put it!

I passed 50 a looooong time ago, before I got a C & R. I hate it when my saleswench calls me and tells me about a sale.
The girlfreind looked inside my safe and estimated 50, but they are stacked up and down without those silly dividers and carbines are stacked on the top shelves. Pistols whereever there is a space. |
Currently, I have 2 guns; My Dissipator, and a Witness Compact 9mm pistol. I may add a shotgun, as a SreallyHTF grocery-getter.
I have more than 100. But I am small beans compared to some of the guys on the cruffler mailing list.

I work manual labor in the construction industry, $11 an hour. I have enough left over for the SEBR too. |

I went to get a business card out of my nightstand drawer... had to move 3 semi autos and a revolver out of the way.
Unfortunately, only 7.
I graduate from college in less than 3 weeks, so I just need a job and I'll make sure the number rises in a hurry. |

View Quote View Quote When I was a teenager I had more that, with about that value. When my parents divorced my dad left a whole slew of Weatherbys and Brownings with me, not to mention the several that were 'mine' already. And Ive bought 2-3 guns a year since I was 18 (which was 40+ guns ago). The last time I made a 'list' from memory I missed 3 or 4 of them. |

4 safes...But I don't own any guns..They're evil!
I only have important papers in all my safes... Nothing anyone would be interested in |
