Yes, Pintos can go VERY bad. From what I recall, if they are struck hard enough from behind, they can explode. oh wait, wrong pinto. Never mind.

If they're properly stored, they keep for a LONG time. However, the longer they are stored, the less moisture content they'll have and the longer you'll have to cook them. If they are exposed to high levels of humidity, you run the risk of mold growth, destroying the beans. So long as they've been kept dry and relatively cool, they should be fine, but you'll need to soak them for a day to rehydrate and cook them longer than "fresh" beans.

The real question is, who ever heard of pinto beans that were "good" in the first place.

Dude, you've got to cook them up with a diced onion and some smoked sausage, then serve over fried potatoes, with corn bread (the wife's from Kentucky). It's the funk.

YES they do, here is my storie... OK, last winter, I decided to cook a pot of beans, so I went to the store and bought some beans, a onion, some smoked ham and ham hocks.. Well, when all was said and done and I sat down to eat, they just did not taste right, I threw out the whole pot, well the next morning I had GAS soooo bad.... I had to go to work, and I mean I stunk to high heaven, I mean a FOUL SULPHURIC smell that would gag a maggot, and very strong burst of noxous gas would explode out... and I mean a STRONG BURST that would go on for about 20 to 30 seconds, and could be smelled from 50ft away or farther... Needless to say NO ONE would work around me that day, or the day after.. So Yes they can go BAD.....
