Quoted: Over an HOUR he was shooting? View Quote I have fired over 500 rounds in a hour, aimed, including refilling mags. And it seemed rather slow. So how much ammo was this guy carrying? Or do they mean that it was a hour from the first shot to the last? Yet another police department caught without a active shooter drill... |

Here’s what I hate about this whole thing.
Lone gunman enters school and starts shooting people and the police are called. The police will block off all escape routes to make sure he can’t get away and then stand back and wait for him to? A) Run out of targets B) Run out of ammo C) He shoots himself Then they will wait until everyone who is shot bleeds out. Or if they are lucky one of the wounded victims will stagger out and let them know the bad guy has already killed himself and that it’s safe for them to go in and see what he did in which case they will still be so over careful and slow that all the victims will still bleed out. The overriding rule is that all officers must go home safe. THISISME |

FUCK.
I'm really starting to think liberals are behind these incidents because all damned shootings occur in some kind of school! WTF man, WTF is wrong with this generation. |

Any guesses on the gun, besides 'TEC-9'???
I'm gonna toss mine in... It's a MAC. Probably in .380 or 9mm... |

Well, this sucks. It's amazing how much crap the local media has been spewing about "machine guns" and all that kind of stuff. Scary enough that my co-workers are starting to believe it. Apparently campus security was running around like chickens with their heads cut off and they've got University Circle Police posted around the hospital and campus buildings. Luckily us graduate students care more about our research than what's going on across the street...

Quoted: that has got to be the ugliest damn building i have ever seen. View Quote Yup, wholeheartedly agree on that one. They had to block off the area around the building over the winter because the melting snow would come flying off the sloped roof in chunks hitting unsuspecting people below. Officers (except for apparently this department) are now expected to immediately enter, proceed to the sound of the firing, and eliminate the shooter. It is the job of the first 4 officers to arrive to form up into a team, don their raid vests and helmets and long arms and then enter. Without waiting for more back up, they are to proceed to the firing without stopping for wounded or to escort people out. Its called the Active Shooter Drill. But its also so agressive that some department heads are shocked by it, it doesn't agree with their views of "kinder gentler" law enforcement-even though it is the only thing that works. |

Quoted: Quoted: "It's believed someone has barricaded himself with a [red]semiautomatic machine gun[/red] inside the building" WTF is that? View Quote A VPC special?? Well to be fair in NC for many years any SEMI AUTOMATIC that could fire 31 or more shots was a machine gun! No joke. CRC View Quote Now for the joke: It still is in Ohio, folks. Ohio Revised Code defines any semi-auto that holds over 30 rounds a machine gun. Really and truly. I'm hoping it's a lever action 30/30 and he only fired 50 rounds; the rest to be hype. |

I hope it is a H&R handi-rifle. Single shot 30.30 or so.
I am betting on an SKS or AK type however, cheap, not very powerful but still gives that semi-auto thrill to the hOmEbOy behind the trigger. I really hope some armed student pops a cap in his ass with his legally carried concealed handgun. |

I just saw pictures of the FBI SWAT team on Fox News. They had MP-5s and a few M-4 carbines.

So what happened, anyone know?? Weapon? Casualties? Is it over?

Local News only confirms one dead.
Witnesses report a total of 11 shots; 8 in the beginning, 3 at about 2040. SWAT is sweeping room by room. When the stupid ugly building was built, they were so proud of how crazy it was and that there are NO 90 degree angles in the place... That ought to make it interesting for the SWAT team. 60 people still inside, but "rescued" to a safe room guarded by more SWAT. Mayor Jane Campbell gave a new brief. She looked worried and less than confident. CWRU President Hundert looked like Corky, the retarded kid on that TV show, and not missing the chance to put her dragon-like visage before the camera, congress"person" Stephany Tubbs-Jones appeared. She is rabidly anti-gun. That's all I know fer now... Scott |

Well, the Chief of Police (of Cleveland City, I think) just held a quick news conference and said that the suspect was armed with two weapons, one being "like a Tec-9, 9mm" and wearing a bulletproof vest and some type of army helmet.

Guy was older, wearing a wig, bulletproof vest, and an old army helmet...
In custody, taken alive. More details tomorrow says the Cleveland Chief. He would not confirm nor deny additional deaths. And Mayor Jane Campbell comforted all her constituents with these words: "Nothing is Sacred, nothing is secure." Makes ya feel good, donit? Scott |

So who was the SWAT team anyway? Local or FBI? I saw some guys with Mp5s and FBI in white on their backs lookin' pretty mall ninja, but were they HRT or what?
And why the hell did they let the guy live? Sigh... |

This proves the people in Ohio need a good CCW law. All this standoff and perhaps some innocent deaths could have been prevented and I'm one of the people exempted from the current law.
