i've seen many people bashing wal-mart here. i know there are some idiots that work there. but that is true with any large chain store. give me other reasons.
Link Posted: 5/5/2003 9:16:15 PM EDT
Because wal-mart seems to be run by commies. Target's cool. Never have any problems there.

95% of their merchandise is made in Red China, even the American flags. That's it for me.

I don't hate Wal-Mart, but I do hate that they always put the gun store waaaaaaaay in the back, instead of the front, which keeps me from getting in,& out quickly.[:D]

For me it is the reason I told you on the other thread. Following 9-11 ALL of my local Wal Marts suspended sales of firearms and ammunition to prevent "panic buying." That is K Mart style anti gun bullshit. This is NOT something I read on the internet or heard from my cousin or that they did someplace else. This is something "I" saw for myself and was also reported on our local news. "I" and several local gun owners were really, really pissed off when they did it. Does that answer your question?

And Target is SOOO convenient when you need to pick up a box of 9mm on your way to the range on a Sunday when all the gun stores are closed. Oh wait, now I remember Walmart is the ONLY chain store that sells guns and ammo.

then boycott your local wal-mart. don't tell someone else, that was not affected by your local dumbass store managers, to boycott wal-mart. this was not a company wide policy. it was a couple idiots doing something stupid. i didn't know that Kmart stopped selling firearms. just handguns and handgun ammo. which i think is bullshit. oh yeah i just made myself think of good reason #2 wal-mart stopped selling handguns. i almost quit over that incident.

1. It is not my responsibility to see if it is local or nationwide. Wal Mart (the store) decided to suspend sales, so fuck 'em. Fuck ALL of them. 2. Nobody does shit like this without permission. And if they DID, Wal Mart did NOTHING to account for it. So Fuck 'em, fuck all of them. 3. Did the Home Office do anything to prevent something like this from happening? If they even tried (and I doubt they did) they failed and are acccountable. So fuck 'em, fuck all of them. 4. Finally if YOUR Wal Mart did NOT do it, I might be inclined to give them a pass. BUT I'm not gonna drive to KY to fucking shop. ALL my local Wal Marts did this to the local firearm community. And we all remember and shop accordingly.

That's why you stock up when the real stores are open. At least Target seems to be CLEAN and has relatively nonconfrontational people working for them...Unlike Wal-Mart when the last time I went there, a midget security guard followed me around the store because I looked "dangerous".

Umm.. you're wack. Target is a global company with Euro peacenick ties that are part of the One World Order. If they didn't sell better quality kids clothes so cheap, I wouldn't let my wife within 2 miles of that store. And If that damn Wal-mart didn't sell ammo so easily, I wouldn't shop there either (except for the groceries - which means that the meat department and the produce department are better than the freakin' Kroger) Grow up!

according to wal-marts firearm procedures manual. i'm paraphrasing cause i don't have it here in front of me. ...many states have recently enacted laws regarding personal carrying of concealed firearms. some states allow no carry signs to be placed in businesses. we have been approached to see if we will place these signs in our stores. we have decided not to... that's not exact words, but i can get the book and copy it and bring it home for later posting. if there is a store not allowing people to carry, then they are against company policy. some states won't let you carry if they sell alcohol, that may be the case in arizona, i don't know. if this is not the case, then has the home office been informed? if not, i'll call them personally.

Let me help you out Kooter. You live in Kentucky. It is populated by mostly reasonable people. I'll bet even KY democrats are mostly OK. Being in the heart of "gun country" you don't have a realistic view of Wal Mart as the rest of the nation knows it. Now to be fair, Wal Mart has "on occassion" stuck to their guns and decided to be "pro gun" on a few occassions. But we in the rest of the country have seen it at it's worse and are mostly not interested. I bet your Wal Marts are even clean and filled with the sound of spoken English.

So you're saying that Wal-Mart's better? On a personal level, not withstanding affiliation of the top levels in charge, Target kicks Wal-Mart's ass. And I'd rather buy from foreign commies than commies from my own country.

My only complaints about Wal Mart are: 1) The one near me no longer sells pistol ammo, or guns of any kind for 'security reasons' (The area surrounding said wal-mart could best be described as 'high crime'. Where I live is a nice neighborhood, but 5 min away (inside Milwaukee itself) is another story). They have rifle ammo, but I have no use for rifle ammo from walmart. 2) On Christmas Eve I was there to buy a last-minute gift. The freakin electronics clerk asked me for ID to use my Mastercard (Credit, not Checkcard). I don't normally carry ID, since I never write checks. So he wouldn't let me buy the product. I had the feeling that if I tried to take it up front to the main check out he would have had me removed (the guy was being a prick)... Fortunately, I have been able to charge stuff after that (oil & other car-maintanance supplies) without being hassled. I now buy my car supplies FROM Wal Mart because of being hassled for ID by a Checker Auto employee at the place I used to go to... The reason for a charge card is to avoid the hassle that comes with writing paper checks...

The flags at the Duarte, Calif Wal-Mart are made in the USA. But, they don't have enough checkers working, I only go there early on Saturday or Sunday morning when the store opens, otherwise its packed. I had a case of shopping cart rage with a little old lady. She asked don't you let woman go(check out) first?" I told that bitch, "I let ladies go first."

Wal-Fart carried handguns as part of their regular firearms inventory up until about 1991. They're still offered as special order items, but good luck getting someone in Wal-Fart to act on that. I hate the bastards due to their predatory pricing. They'll move into a community, undercut and eliminate the competition, then jack the prices back up, or cease carrying a product or product line completely.

Here is a good reason to hate Wal F***ing mart. I purchased a rifle there 2 years ago. 1st, the people working the counter in the sporting goods section do not know jack about firearms.(or anything about any of the products for that matter) 2nd, most employees there speak english as a second language.(most are very fluent in Vedic, Hindu, or Indian languages) 3rd, I paid with a check. I have paid with checks in the past. Just show ID, they swipe it, and it's a done deal. Not when there is a firearm involved. I had to write my phone # on it, then the clerk had to take it to a manager to verify it and to see if I was on double secret probation or something like that.(this is after the nics came back as OK, so why did they have to check the check?) 4th, to add insult to injury, after taking all these precautions, they still did not trust me. They had to tape up the box, sign across the tape, and have one of their female 3rd world types escort me out of the building.(I'm not allowed to carry my own firearm either, that is what the escort is for) I guess they think that in the store, as soon as the firearm is in my hands, an evil spirit will posses me, and I will butt stroke the clerk, smash the glass counter where the ammo is kept, load up the weapon, discharge the weapon in the store, aiming at everything that moves or doesn't, laugh maniacally, take off my clothes, smear commo creame over my entire body, and run through the store screaming and shooting. Bilster

Yeah, I hate Walmart too because they sell stuff so damn cheap! I'd rather pay much more and feel good about myself. And I hate that I can buy 40 round boxes of Winchester .223 for $7.47. That's a drag. And what I REALLY hate is that I can get all my shopping done for a family of seven in ONE friggin' place and not have to drag them all over the place and spend much more. I REALLY hate that! Give me a break here. All chain stores have their pluses and minuses, including not always being the cleanest, being cheap, etc. But they are what they are. If you don't like it, don't shop there. WallyWorld has pissed me off on many occasions, but it's still the best deal around. I bitch and then I go on. And I have to agree with those who have stated that at least Walmart still has the balls to even carry ANYTHING related to firearms. When the was last time you bought guns&ammo at your local Target? As far as Kmart goes... I feel like a total peice of white trash on the rare occasion I go in there. It's hard to compete with Walmart. I know of at least two women who were always way too "high class" to ever consider setting foot in Walmart. Well... both of them shop there regularly. You just can't beat their deals. And some of us live on a tight enough income that if we want to afford our gun hobbies, we have to shop for everything else at Walmart.
Link Posted: 5/6/2003 9:10:50 AM EDT
Red_Label: Bravo, you've hit the nail on the head. I'm a small business owner and like to throw as much as possible to SB owners, but pure, plain fact is, here in Phoenix you just can't beat WallyWorld for their ammo and pool supply prices, two things I go through a lot of. If the local gunshops-even the one(s) I've purchased several firearms from-would carry, at a decent price, something other than PMC & Wolf (bottom of the line) and Speer Law Enforcement & Hornady (top or near the top of the line) I'd FOR SURE throw some cash their way. However, when I can buy Winchester-made in the USA-for the same price or CHEAPER than PMC or Wolf, from WallyWorld, I'm gonna do it EVERY TIME. I ain't rich, plain and simple. Btw, SteyrAUG, both the Wallyworlds I go to as well as the Fry's Electronics I frequent have NO restriction on firearms/CCW. My GF and I quit Costco and joined Sam's Club (WallyWorld, again) due to their policy on firearms. (OK at Sam's, not at Costco)

OK, as most of you know, I am a truck driver. Quite often I have to deliver to the Wal-Mart distribution centers where all materials are recieved in bulk then put on their trucks for store delivery. They try to make us unload the truck and break down the pallets of merchandise, or have US PAY THEM to get their merchandise off the trailer. Grocery DC's are the same way and I give them hell over it every time. The way I see it, I am like the mail man and the trailer is the mail box. You ordered it, you wanted it, don't expect the mail man to carry the mail into your house, open it and read it to you.

Riiiight... Gotta love a company that forces workers (under threat of termination) to work off the clock... That fires employees for dating one another... That uses heavy-handed tactics (spying, coercion, threats) to discourage employees from even discussing union activities on their own time... That refuses to carry CD's and tapes it deems "inappropriate" either because of lyrical content or cover art.

Oh... My... God... You mean that big bad Wallymart is choosing to put what it deems to be a moral ethical issue ahead of the practice of just making another buck without giving a damn about what filth it sells? What a HORRIBLE thing to do! I wish some other companies would have the guts to "just say NO to CRAP". Walmart is not some state-owned chain. They are private and can sell whatever they choose to and NOT sell whatever they choose. I have yet to be convinced that the entire chain is behind the workers being taken advantage of. If it is so, then damn Walmart. I hate that crap. But I also HATE unions and the fact that they hold so many companies hostage (including mine). Edited or clarity.

IIRC it had something to do with a whack job buying ammos, loading a gun and killing one of their employees and the resulting settlement with said employees family.
