some of you have some very, very intersting avatars, some are self explanatory, so lets hear the story behind them now that we know what your posting names mean via searchforthetruth's thread.

i just figured out thanks to a few of you, how to change my avatar so in the life of this thread it may change numerous times.

but for now, my avatar combines two loves, guns and racing.  the guy in the picture is terry labonte, NASCAR driver from down here in corpus christi that made it big.

A pic of me, shouldering my favorite carbine. I was playing around (at work one day) with a MS photo editor. I found an option that was called, "stamp".

Now I have a pic that is similar to the Springfield Armory logo. I think it's cool!

Are you ready for this?

My dog, an American Pit Bull Terrier, was once (during WW1) an icon/"poster boy" of our nations Strength, Alertness, and Power.

Most folks don't realize this was ever the truth; due to all of the pathetic, biased press these dogs receive during recent years.

But, here are a few examples:

...like our freedom to own firearms, simply another wonderful thing about our country now labeled and demonized. [V]

Shooting an MP-5 on the deck of LHD-1 USS Wasp while assigned to the Command Element, Marine Air Control Detachment, 26 MEU (SOC) LF6F 3-95. I would always hook the guys from Force Recon up with helo rides back to the ship and they hooked me up with their toys. Nice deal and a great bunch of guys.

Somebody else was using Homer Simpson, so I went to the next best representation of my true inner self. (Cartman ) I guess partly I am a selfish a-hole at heart, like Cartman, but at least I can admit it to myself. Homer would have been better though, DOHH....

Thulsa Doom, played by James Earl Jones, in the movie "Conan the Barbarian", Arnold Schwarzenegger's breakthrough movie from about 1978.

I couldn't see using the Austrian Oak's likeness, but I liked the idea of using Doom.   I like the dangerous intelligence of the character and the undeniable charisma that James Earl Jones brought to the role.

Plus, his ability to turn live snakes into arrows without freezing them is just TOO cool.  I've tried, but they keep slipping off the bowstring.

My other option for an avatar:

I won't comment on which of these characters is closer to my real personality. [:D]
