Well yes, technically he is.  He's a senator after all...

On a serious note though, as I'm sure your well aware there are certain politicians stand  higher on the moral ground than others and Sessions is up there IMHO.

Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions Endorses Trump: "It Is Time To Make America Great Again"

Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Alabama) endorsed Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Huntsville Sunday evening. Sessions promised a "Gang of Eight" type of immigration reform bill would not will be passed in a Donald Trump presidency.

"There is an opportunity this year, Tuesday, and we have the opportunity -- we have an opportunity Tuesday. It may be the last opportunity we have for the people's voice to be heard. You have asked for 30 years, and politicians have promised for 30 years to fix illegal immigration," Sessions said.

"The American people have known for years these trade agreements have not been working for them," Sessions stumped. "We now have and will soon have a vote on the Transpacific Partnership TPP), Obamatrade, and it will damage America. It will create a commission that undermines our sovereignty, and it should not pass. Donald Trump when he gets elected president will see it does not pass."

Sessions said Trump is not perfect, but nobody is and endorsed the candidate.

"This movement, he doesn't take money from political groups and lobbyists. He is committed to leading this country in an effective way. You know, nobody is perfect. We can't have everything, can we, Mr. Trump? But I can tell you one thing, I think at this time in my opinion, my best judgment, at this time in America's history, we need to make America great again!" Sessions said, repeating Trump's campaign slogan.

"I am pleased to endorse Donald Trump for the presidency of the United States," Sessions endorsed.

"I told Donald Trump this isn't a campaign, this is a movement," Sessions told the crowd. "Look at what's happening. The American people are not happy with their government."

"We are in a movement that must not fade away," Sessions said. "The bosses are you. The people in Washington are public servants and they serve you."

Politician being politician.    If Trump was not in such a strong position with the window lickers, I'd bet good money he'd have given that exact same speech replacing "Trump" with Cruz".

Yeah, it would be easy for Sessions to just sit back and protect himself in the senate where he will probably be voted in as long as he runs.............yet he chose to go against the GOPe.

Very true...

Donald J. Trump, who received draft deferments through much of the Vietnam War, told the author of a coming biography that he nevertheless “always felt that I was in the military” because of his education at a military-themed boarding school.

Mr. Trump said his experience at the New York Military Academy, an expensive prep school where his parents had sent him to correct poor behavior, gave him “more training militarily than a lot of the guys that go into the military.”

Jeff Sessions in fact did help craft Trump's position paper on immigration:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2016/02/28/in-major-blow-to-ted-cruz-sen-jeff-sessions-of-alabama-endorses-donald-trump-for-gop-nomination/

Starting early last year, Sessions and his advisers privately consulted with Trump on immigration policy and helped to shape the candidate’s position paper.

Not necessarily awry with Cruz...

Sessions is being REALIST ABOUT...

Who is winning the Nomination...

And who can prevail in the General Election...

PLUS-----

It won't hurt Session's CAREER POLITICALLY for his EARLY loyalty to TRUMP...

When Trump is sitting in the White House...

I just don't think Sessions would sell his soul for personal benefit over what he thinks would benefit the country overall in his opinion.

Maybe naïve on my part but he has always struck me as a VERY honest straight shooter.

I mean, he could just sit back and say nothing and have a senate seat for the rest of his life.

Most of those are not cheap shots. They are Trump's words and record. You choose to ignore that because you are certain he's changed.

Also, endorsements don't seem to be very significant overall anymore. Would you vote for Hillary if Rand Paul, Rush Limbaugh, and other reputable Republicans endorsed her? Of course not.

Seriously; at this point the race for the Republican nomination is down to Trump and The GOPe/Rubio/whatever dirty tricks the GOPe has in store down the road;  and the Jeff Sessions endorsement is important in the scheme of things.

Just got done watching Fox News Sunday where Wallace annihilated Ted Cruz in the interview.  Wallace asked Ted Cruz about his repeated dirty tricks controversy.  Cruz denied everything.  Cried about Trump dirty tricks and wouldn't answer Wallace's questions. Said the whole story about his dirty tricks was a false story.

Wallace then had to remind him that he had apologized to Ben Carson for his dirty tricks and had to fire his campaign communications director.  The interview ending with a long silence of Cruz just staring into the camera refusing to speak.  Pitiful performance.

That's pretty accurate.

But I'll go back to what my ethics professor preached from day one. "When principle is at stake, be deaf to expediency." I now have to question if Sessions ever had any principles.

When Cruz heard that Jeff Sessions said this;  its more than likely that Cruz vomited into his own mouth because it is important.

"I am pleased to endorse Donald Trump for the presidency of the United States,"

We will all just have to see what happens Tuesday I guess.......

Pretty much.

Anyone who can read at an 8th grade level doesn't need someone to tell them who to vote for. They can and should research the candidates themselves.

Those who can't usually just follow like sheep, e.g.

I don't know Cincinnatus...........if Jeff Sessions doesn't like you something is wrong IMHO.

Cruz is missing something...........something is awry and I don't now what it is but something is wrong with that guy.

Granted I am a rabid tinfoiler..........but there is something that is seriously wrong with Cruz.

The official policy statement on immigration on Donald Trumps Campaign website; I believe that it was written by Jeff Sessions who will have a position of importance in Trump's cabinet.

Jeff Sessions in fact did help craft Trump's position paper on immigration:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2016/02/28/in-major-blow-to-ted-cruz-sen-jeff-sessions-of-alabama-endorses-donald-trump-for-gop-nomination/

Starting early last year, Sessions and his advisers privately consulted with Trump on immigration policy and helped to shape the candidate’s position paper.

Fuck me running..  Interesting.

What does Vegas say on the odds of Huntsville's local economy exploding under a Trump Presidency?

I dont know...what does it say?   I've never really paid attention to Vegas odds for much of anything.  Are they fairly accurate?

Some more endorsements that didn't got Cruz but rather to Trump.........

Mark “OZ” Geist and John “TIG” Tiegen, two members of the security team that helped rescue dozens of Americans during the Benghazi terror attacks, have endorsed Donald Trump for president.

According to a statement released Sunday:

Mr. Trump stated, “I am truly honored to have the support of these American heroes, the best of their generation. The American people can know with certainty, I will always place their interest above all else. I am the most militaristic person and it is so important to me to strengthen our military and protect American families and freedoms.”

Mark “OZ” Geist said, “We, perhaps more than any Americans, know the absolute and imperative reason that we elect Donald J. Trump as President of the United States. First and foremost, under a Trump administration, the request for additional security by an ambassador would have been heeded, and second, there is no question, when the attack came,he would have moved heaven and earth to provide the necessary forces to protect and reinforce our warriors. Mr. Trump is the bold, decisive leader America needs at this time”. Oz added, “Under President Trump, many conflicts will be avoided because our enemies will fear the United States and our military.”

John Tiegen added, “It is very clear to see the groundswell of support, never seen before in recent politics. Americans want a strong leader, one who cares more about the safety and freedom of the American people than he does winning elections, or what the press might think. In honor of those we have fought with, I am proud to endorse the next President of the United States, Donald J. Trump.”

That's nice honey. Why don't you post about it in the Trump thread instead of the Cruz thread?

Are you insecure about your choice of Presidential candidate or need constant assurance that you are right?

These are important endorsements that Cruz has failed to secure for himself ; so it's perfectly reasonable to expect them to be discussed here.

Cruz is done; and the race is now between Trump and the GOPe.

Its well past the time to cue That Fat Valkyrie already.

~60% want NOT Trump.  It's far from a lock for him.

I don't discount the power of the GOPe, the media, and the donor class, so no, although the odds are that that he's  going to win, it's not a lock for at Trump yet.

But Cruz is finished; his campaign never gained enough traction with the voters.

The fact that you want that so badly is pathetic given that you're on a firearms site.

Chris Wallace interviewed Rafael Cruz today and put up a chart showing 64% of conservatives supported Trump to Rafael Cruz's 13% support in a number of Super Tuesday states.  Wallace asked Cruz to explain why he doesn't have higher support among the core base he needs to win and has courted the entire primary race.  Rafael Cruz could not respond.

Can you answer for him?

If it makes you feel better to say so.

But Cruz won't be the nominee, everything is going sideways for him regardless of what you or I want.

Wow, Jeff Sessions kicking Cruz to the curb and jumping on the Trump train?  The fix is truly in.
