Amazon has raised the minimum order required to receive free shipping on most items to $49. (Book orders of $25 or more will also receive free shipping.) That's up from $35, which has been the minimum since October 2013. Prime members continue to get free 2-day shipping on all eligible items with no minimum required.

Their business, their rules.
I have prime and get lots of same day/next day stuff for my membership fee. |

I don't pay for prime. For me, it's a waste of money. When I'm under the free shipping minimum, I add on commodities (e.g. groceries). View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Then I got prime on sale. And now still think as you do. It's a waste, half the items I try to get are not prime eligible anyway. And building up a $50 for free shipping is plenty easy. It's way overrated. |

Wish I had signed up for Prime when it was on sale a month ago. |

Meh, I dropped prime when I started finding better prices on Ebay. The increase in free shipping requirement just means I'll use Amazon even less.
|
|
I'll continue to be a loyal customer, as long as Prime remains as awesome as it is today.

This is just another version of customer loyalty and the price of a seat on the plane.
For some the deal is great, for others marginal or a losing bet. |

Hell, I watch enough stuff on Prime video to be worth 8 bucks a month. The shipping is just a bonus.

Everyone knows prime has video and music streaming services included right? With some pretty good original series and other shows Netflix doesn't have.

Do people not have prime? Places you'll never see a nascar fan in are schools, colleges, libraries, and book stores. |

If you are a Prime member and it doesn't pay for itself within two months or less, you are doing it wrong.

My prime is worth it. Wife and I share it as well. Just ordered a trip fold bed cover for my Tacoma, was $75 cheaper on amazon and got free 2 day shipping with prime. Otherwise shipping was going to be $40.

Rock auto isn't cheaper than prime. the monroe struts I bought were $72.86 with 2 day delivery from the post office (they ship from the ruskin fl warehouse 100 miles away) the same strut is $65.79 at rock auto....but 2-3 day postal shipping is $10.46 that brings up even. paying rock auto for next day shipping is $20 an extra $10 from prime... but if everything is shipping from the same amazon wharehouse you pick over night on the lower priced item and 2 day on the other items they will package and send them all over night. I've done this several times. |

Sure, there are those examples where if you shop in such a way that you need rapid delivery, you can do these "calculations". If you are the type of shopper who needs everything last minute RFN, and buy from places that screw you with full list shipping cost, Prime is great. Though.. if that's how you shop, perhaps just getting the car and going to the store is something retro to take a look at. |

Did anyone think it would last forever?
Does anyone think "Prime" will continue at the same price / service level? Once they own you, you can never escape. |

Do people not have prime? It's worth it to avoid trips to shopping malls and strip centers. $99 a year is well worth it to reduce my exposure to illegal immigrant drivers and generally poor customer service everywhere. |

It means i wont make as many orders on Amazon. Last year i did 35 orders - i will probably only half half as many orders this year.

Once "Amazon Now" hits rural NH (app. 2056), it will be perfect. I slowed down quite a bit when Amazon started charging sales tax in Michigan. Amazon's biggest edge was cost, but now many items can be found at B&M stores (or other online retailers) for a very similar (if not cheaper) price. I mostly stick to "Deal of the Day" items and the free Prime Videos. |

Prime and non prime prices are sometimes different. I had two different browsers opened and noticed for the items I was looking to buy, that the non-Prime were less. I let my Prime account lapse and now just wait until I have enough for free shipping.

Balls. There goes my fiendishly clever plan for lowballing them. I've got 200+ small things on my wishlist. Mostly books, bad sci-fi movies, prepper-related items. When I buy something from amazon I'd pad the order with enough small items from my wishlist to just barely exceed the free shipping minimum. Like playing Price is Right. Yes I'm still buying 'more stuff' from them, but almost everything I bought was 'free shipping'. And I'm not handing them what is it now $70? for Prime.
