Today, Saturday Jan 9th, legendary rock icon Lemmy Kilmister will be laid to rest.

The original plan was a 12 hour continuous memorial party to be hosted at Lemmy's favorite hangout, The Rainbow on Sunset Strip.

Due to overwhelming response, now other bars up and down Sunset will help to handle the overflow as throngs of Motorhead fans from around the world descend on Hollywood.

The actual funeral service will be a more private event for family and close friends at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.

The funeral service will be broadcast on Motorhead's Youtube channel at 4:30pm central time / 2:30pm pacific time so fans around the world can be a part of it.

I personally don't ever remember another famous rock star having this large of a send off party, and you can be sure there will be a who's who of rock legends in attendance.

Very funny, smartass!

Yes, the Freddie Mercury memorial concert was amazing and I watched it myself.

BUT. . . . . . that is an unfair comparison and was not exactly relevant to the point I was trying to make.

The Freddie tribute was a concert held 6 months after his death at Wembley Stadium and people had to buy a ticket to go just like any other concert. (The profits went to AIDS research). It was NOT his actual memorial or funeral service.

I was referring to the actual memorial services for rock stars that have died in the last few decades.

Like Dimebag or Ronnie James Dio.

I'm not much into music, and I barely know what Motorhead is and who Lemmy is, but I have acquaintances who seem to think Lemmy was some kind of hero or role model.

But then again I know people who think the same thing about Steve McQueen and John Wayne.

Someone please embed. While not comparable to Freddy Mercury, it's better than I expected.
