My younger brother had a '71 Volkswagon bus painted fire engine red running one of those Buick 215 ci Aluminum V-8's in the back. Had cooling problems in the summer, but the girls liked it. Now he drives a Volvo sedan with a Corvette LT1 engine and 5-speed. Bought it from some psycho in Florida and had it shipped to CA. That thing moves.
I was always happy having low maintenance cars. The '87 Nissan truck fits that bill. With 190k miles and the 3rd paint job (serves me right for picking red) it's still running strong. Fuel pump went out once and it's on its 4th battery and 4th set of tires. Other than that, it's always there when I need it. That's my kind of car. |

I could answer your question if I knew how high it was being dropped, the maximum velocity I guess would be terminal velocity.
If it has to rely on its own power, it is nothing to talk about, it is a ford. But it gets me where I need to go :P |

I decided to check just for this thread. My 92 Nissan Sentra hit 94 MPH on the freeway yesterday, pedal to the floor. I guess at 161,000 miles that's ok. When I bought it new it would hit 110 no problem. Course then it got 40 MPG, now it sucks gas at around 12 MPG. I think it's running a "little" rich, what with those clouds of black smoke belching out the rear [;)]

My game warden truck tops out at about 120+. I've actually had a few high speed pursuits of night hunters running from the law.

I believe it used the 215 as did some Rovers. A Triumph Stag would be nice, if I could get one, but the Triumph V8 was known to overheat so my solution would be something like the 215. It should fit just fine with minor modifications. |

70 Chevy pickup...327 punched out .060 over with 10.5 to 1 pop-ups, 2.02intakes angled plug heads,chevy aluminum LT-1 highrise with a holley 850 double pumper, cam is a corvette off-road GM, MSD ignition with a 400 turbo sittin behind it with 4.11's in the rear. I don't know what it turns in the 1/4 but it is f*ckin faaaaasssssst.

2000 Crown Vic 4.6liter with 2.73 gears
Speed limiter is set at 106mph which sucks since the speedo goes to 120. Plan to switch the gears to 3.23s and put in a new chip with no limit. Car does 106 easy so I'm thinking 135 or so is the the top end. Avg 20mpg doing 80 on the highway. It's white so I don't have to worry about people trying to race me :D I like to find people speeding in the fast lane. Then I fly up behind them and then just sit there :D Scares the crap out of people. |

hmmm...
1995 Corvette convertible...5.7L 300hp V8, eats up the roads of Barrington IL quite nice 2001 Dodge Stratus R/T coupe...3.0L 240 hp V6 (did some nice mods to it) complete with tiptronic and it too eats up the roads quite nicely, doing 0-60 at a projected speed (after mods, weight and some calculations) at 6.0 seconds, down from 6.4 that the stock one does. My friends and I have nick-named it the "Mustang Killer", because I took my friends pride away by by leaving his 2000 Mustang GT about 10 feet behind me. Considering the size of that engine, we were all quite impressed. I also put some new wheels on the car, 18x8 inch 5-spoke millie miglia's or something like that, damn it looks sharp. Oh, regarding Nitrous, when can you do it to a car? (how many miles, etc) |

I had a 76 trans am with a 455sd that ran 12 flat at 122. I just sold it!! to many projects. the spedo went to 160 and Ive had the nedal on the peg. Ive ben working on a 73 Fiat 124 for a few years I have a 300hp 350 in it but when you kick it down all it dose is spin.. if I could get it to hook Id say it would do mid 12's

01 Yamaha Raptor 660R ATV does about 75mph and damned exciting getting there. It may not be as fast as a car but try catching a few feet of air in your car or climb a sand dune and see how ya feel! My daily driver is a 99 F350 XLT supercab 4x4 V10 I think the speed limiter is set at about 95 and it gets to it awfully quick.

Well, if you mean how fast can I go without fear it will come apart, I'd say I'd let it drift if it was gonna go over 75, and my E.T. would be in the double digits.

I HAD an '86 Camaro with a 350. Ported and polished, shaved heads, roller cam and rocker arms, headers in front of glass-packs, low-end cam, Holley 700 Double-pumper on a Holley Manifold, 3.23 Posi rear end, Center-Line rims; would do the 1/4 in 11.6, and the fastest I got it up to was 158 (clocked by my buudy the SCHP Trooper). Still got 16 mpg. Shoulda spent more on the suspension, though, 'cause that last curve got it..........

I've got a '70 Camaro in my garage right now...thinking of selling it...too expensive anymore to race....Last time I ran it was last Fall at Cecil County Dragstrip...It went 8.46 at 159.85 MPH in the 1/4 mile,with a 1.24 sec.60ft.time. Car weighs 2895 lbs race ready & 3075 lbs with me in it. Got a homepage with some cooooool pics of the car & some guns too....check'em out !!!

.060 460, 10-1 flattops, Lunati custom grind solid cam, Motorsport aluminum Cobra Jet heads, Weiand Stealth intake, Holly 830 carb, full length headers, 2" primary, 3.5" collectors, CJ rods, motor plate and mid plate to gain header clearence, JW powerglide with trans-brake, 8" converter,4.11 9" rear, strange 31 spline axles, Detroit Locker posi, 8 pt. cage, full interior, 3400 lbs with me in it, runs 11.16 at 122 on the motor, 10.59 with a 100hp hit on the bottle at 134 mph. 10.5 X 28" MT slicks at the track, P-275 60 15 BFG Drag Radials on the street, full exaust, all street legal, well mostly street legal! |

Caterpillars build the roads and the other diesels 'oil' them. Just kidding. I stomped the hills of Montana & North Dakota with an old 318 Detroit for quite a while. Then I joined the Army and got a 455hp 92F Detroit(3mpg in 8WD-HEMTT). Each truck had a 10-gallon pan underneith that had to be emptied every morning. |

3.55 Gears BBK Long Tube Headers Off road H-Pipe March Underdrive Pulleys Pro-M 77mm Mass air Edelbrock intake Aluminum GT-40 Heads Pro-5.0 Shifter 2 Chamber Flowmasters Glock 27 under seat Some other stuff I forgot... Does 140mph easily and stomps Corvettes off the line and in the straight every time. Have not tracked it with the current mods tho. |

Yea, just about, I had a cummins I put 750,000 miles on with no real problems. then I got a 500 HP Detroit and put 165,000 miles on it when the turbo blew and took the whole motor with it. 11 gallons of hot oil shot out the stacks for about a half mile till I got it stopped, I was on a two lane road the people going the other way and behind me were PISSED, 6 people stopped to tell me about their car but none asked if I needed help or a phone(didnt need it anyway I had a phone) Now, I drive a CAT motor, the best, |
